L.O.V Cosmetics gives Allsun all of the feels!

LOV Cosmetics Affordable Makeup Review

Yay, this is what blogging is all about! Allsun has discovered a new brand she’s mad about and she wants to tell the world.
I am SO excited to introduce you to a brilliant new beauty brand called, rather aptly, L.O.V.

The range comes from the House of Cosnova. This is the mothership of Essence and Catrice cosmetics, two brands we all have a soft spot for. Well, the L.O.V range is bigger, sleeker, fancier and more high-end in comparison. It’s pitched at the 25+ age group but the prices are still reasonable, ranging from €4.95-€16.

I like the simple elegance of the packaging and the black sturdy design. And all the palettes come with mirrors, which is something I always appreciate.

Very cleverly, the L.O.V cosmetics people treated some bloggers and press to a fabulous makeover and photoshoot.  Thanks to makeup artist Sarah Jane Langan, I was turned into a supermodel for five minutes and had my photo taken by photographer Kip Carroll.  I was put at ease the moment I stood in front the camera.  Lots of tips and tricks were shared including how to elongate my neck to disguise my pesky double chin.

We were given a few L.O.V goodies to play around with when we got home and, after using everything for almost two months now, I’m ready to share my top three products. Your makeup bag needs them!

LOViconyx Eyeshadow & Contouring Palette, €15.95: From the moment I opened this up,  it was love at first sight. It reminded me instantly of the Laura Geller baked eye shadows I bought on QVC more than six years ago.  They were a revolution at the time and highly pigmented, so I was looking forward to trying these ones. Epic name, too: A Walk on the Beach with Marilyn.

With high shine and subtle matte tones playing together this palette is great to use for a neutral smoky eye. Shades of brown, nude and taupe work really well together and the colour payoff is great.  I can blend the shades nicely and my eyelids don’t end up looking like they’re bruised, which can happen when I try to smoke things up!  I really enjoy this palette and it’s become a staple in my makeup bag.

Heartful Healthy Glow Blush 020 Secret Apricot, €7.95: This blush is a stunner. It really does what it says and creates a gorgeous glow.  The slight shimmer doesn’t emphasise pores, and the colour lasts well throughout the day.  The price is hard to beat for something this lovely and it reminds me of the famous Nars Orgasm blush.

The Forbidden Dramatic Volume Mascara, Extra Black,€9.95: Emma and I were having the chats about our mascara woes. We were both struggling to find that special product.  Well I think I’ve done it!

First off when I see extra black on any mascara I’m sold:  my eyelashes are so fair that they need the extra drama. Inside the glossy packaging, there’s a brilliant mascara brush with an hourglass shape.

This was the first time I had used this kind of wand and I am sold.  It gives me loads of volume and no smudging. Because of the hourglass shape, every little lash gets covered. Bourjois Volume 1 Seconde Mascara (Ultra Black) has been a firm favourite of mine for a good while but this is now my #1.

I’m wearing all three in my photoshoot picture, along with the L.O.V mattifying primer, serum foundation and eyeliner pen.  You can find the brand in Shaws Department Stores and selected pharmacies across Ireland including, Lloyds. McCauleys and Cara.

Have you fallen for L.O.V yet? What else should I try?
