Lucia Pica has certainly been busy at Chanel. Hot on the heels of one of the most exciting autumn beauty launches comes a new lipstick formula for the brand, which has got me all hot under the collar. Rouge Allure Ink is a range of eight matte liquid lip colours which are €34 a pop, and on counter now.
Liquid lipsticks can be tricky, which is the opposite of what Chanel beauty is all about. Even the best can be drying, wear off unevenly and be difficult to reapply over the initial base coat. These frosted glass tubes of liquid loveliness, however, present none of these problems.
Instead, you get a beautifully comfortable and non-drying texture, a velvety yet luminous finish, and effortless application and touch-ups, thanks both to the formula and to the applicator itself. It looks like your standard doefoot, but performs exceptionally well: it’s nice and flexible, perfectly sized and glides smoothly over the lips, making it a cinch to slick on a couple of thin, even layers.
They feel incredibly lightweight on the lips, too, and the blend of emollient waxes, oils, botanical extracts and vitamin E ensure they’re comfy and pleasant to wear. While I get about five hours wear-time, they wouldn’t last through a meal, but that’s fine: unlike other liquid lipsticks they wear off evenly, don’t look messy and are a breeze to reapply.
The shade range is beautiful: I love all five of the shades I was sent to try out, which range from a sophisticated nude, Amoureux, to the vibrant coral Vivant and that deep, brownish red, Experimente, I showed you here. The warm orangey red Libere is a stunner and the shade I gravitated to first - that's it in the top photo of this post - while Choquant is a cooler, blood red.
In short, if you love a nice luxury lip product, these won’t disappoint. Get thee to your nearest Chanel counter!
