I was very taken with the Armani Beauty eye tints when they launched, but I’m even happier with the latest incarnations, which have one important difference: they’re matte.
Why is this so great? Well, if you read my original post, you’ll know that I like to wear these in a very imperfect way, as a smudgy, veil of colour all around the eye. And that’s just easier to do, every-day, with a matte as opposed to a shimmer: you can bring the colour up higher above the eye and lower below, and it looks modern and under-stated and effortless.
Add to that the fact that matte just seems more fitting for autumn/winter – shimmers are best in the sunshine – and you’ve got yourself a lovely little product that would be a great addition to pretty much anyone’s collection. There are six shades in the range, all varying hues of brown, and I was sent shade #22, Spice Smoke, which is a warm reddish-toned brown.
I did my makeup here in seconds, just smudging the product on straight from the wand (which I totally failed to photograph but you can see here) and giving it a quick blend with a fluffy brush. It blends out so nicely and that’s down to a new ingredient, matte mica, which is made of incredibly fine pearls that give a really diffused matte finish.
Longevity was rigorously tested, too: that day it poured from the heavens, and – as you’ll know if you watch my Instagram stories – my eye makeup was the only bit that wasn’t rained away.
I’m wearing it here with the latest mascara launch from Armani Beauty, Eccentrico, which promises instant extra volume. It’s my first time trying an Armani mascara, and I’m very taken with it. It’s a great layering mascara and gives plenty of volume as advertised, in just a couple of swipes. It doesn’t go crunchy on the lashes – it feels like they’re coated in a gel – which is what makes it so good to layer up with during the day; you can lash on an extra coat or two when you’ve finished work and are heading to the pub.
Eccentrico comes in four shades including red – obviously the beauty shade of the new season – but I was gratefully given the black. Now, it’s not waterproof – nor does it claim to be – but it only smudged slightly when the heavens opened on me, so I’m not mad at it. Both the eye tints and mascara are priced at €32 and are on counter now.
I’ll leave you with the words of Armani’s International Makeup Artist, Linda Cantello: “These two products share the Armani make-up philosophy: maximum impact with minimum time and effort. A sweep of Eye Tint in one of these new matte shades emphasizes and shapes any eye, and the mascara boosts lashes with incredible volume and density of color, in just a few strokes.”
I totally concur.
