The fact that this review isn’t more glowing is testimony to the general excellence of the Bourjois brand. You see, I like this Bourjois City Radiance SPF 30 Foundation; I just don’t like it as much as the brand’s other offerings, including the 123 Perfect CC cream or the Healthy Mix foundation. It’s not quite as brightening or as flattering, imho, as those other products, but it is more protective, with an SPF of 30, which makes it a handy – and well-priced – little product, at €13.99.
I like it for warmer weather, when I’m feeling lazy and don’t want to apply SPF and a base. But I also like it for nights when there’s a lot going on with my makeup and I don’t want to look caked: when you’re wearing a lot on your eyes and lips, a lighter base seems more fresh and modern than one with a higher coverage. Here, for example, I’m wearing it to a wedding, with a smokey eye and a red lip – both from Chanel’s glorious autumn collection. Any more makeup and I’d have been close to full drag, but the City Radiance foundation kept me on just the right side. I hope.
A word of caution: Bourjois bases lean yellow, which works for me but may not work for you, and there are just 6 shades to choose from. But if natural, light coverage plus really decent sun protection is what you’re after, and you can find this in your shade, then fill your boots!
