I’ve had lash extensions several times before and loved the results, but this is the first time I’ve sported Russian Volume Lashes – and there’s no going back. I got mine done at the newly opened Claudine King Brows & Beauty bar on South William Street, a refreshingly modern and urban space offering everything from waxing to facials to nails, while specialising in framing the eyes.
So called because they were developed in Russia, these synthetic lashes are much lighter, softer and finer than regular extensions – I swiped my finger over them and some (also synthetic) Mink lashes, and they feel much silkier and less stiff in comparison.
I hopped up on to a comfy treatment bed for the 90 minutes it takes for the lashes to be applied. First, though, we have a good chat about what I’m looking for and the effect that I’d like (basically, somewhere between natural and va-va-voom, but that won’t damage my own stubby little lashes).
Because the Russian Volume lashes are so fine, as many as 4-6 of them can be attached to each natural lash. With Mink lashes, it’s one on one, which gives a darker, longer lash look, but the Russian look is all – you guessed it – volume. The lashes come in different lengths and your therapist will tailor them to your eye shape; because my eyes turn downwards, a flicky effect was created with the outer lashes.
While there, I earwigged on Claudine outside, advising clients on their brows. This woman obviously knows her stuff, and since mine are in poor shape right now, I will definitely entrust them to her capable hands.
But on to the important bit – the results. Amazing. I don’t need makeup – any makeup at all – to feel pretty and look ‘done’ with just brows, blush and lippy. This has been the result of any lash extensions I’ve sported in the past, but the Russian Volume lashes give a fuller, more impactful, flutter, while still looking (fairly) natural (if we’ve never met before).
A full set of Russian Volume Lashes at Claudine King Brows and Beauty is €120.00; these were provided FOC in consideration of a review, but I will happily be giving them my money in the future.
