Kerstin Florian Customised Facial at The Kingsley Hotel, Cork

The Spa The Kingsley Hotel Cork Review

Waiting for the promised Dublin heat wave that has never quite arrived, I’ve at least had the solace of a recent sunny weekend in Cork to look back on with fondness. Allsun and I headed to the Kingsley hotel so I could introduce her to the Outdoor Hydrotherapy Pool That Has Stolen My Heart – and I now have a rival for its affections.

Immersing yourself in that warm bubbly water, drinking in those riverside views, is just a fabulous experience, no matter the weather, and one that’s just as good for your soul as it is for your muscles.

You can’t do this and not feel an incredible sense of wellbeing and relaxation. And the rest of the spa measures up:  there’s loads to do, including a pool, Jacuzzi and ‘spa pool’ (basically a second Jacuzzi away from the pool area), all indoors, and the thermal suite is a really decent size, too – you definitely won’t be bored.

If you’re going all out, the treatment menu is delightful and features the Neom Organics Wellbeing range alongside Kerstin Florian; you’ll only find this premium, natural range in a handful of high-end Irish spas and they specialise in the use of thermal mineral water, mud, algae, herbal extracts and essential oils to treat the skin.

I can recommend the customised Kerstin Florian facial: it’s tailored to your individual requirements, which means it’s suitable for all skin types, and it’s 60 minutes of deep relaxation combined with targeted care for immediately gratifying results. And an awesome head massage, to boot.

The treatment kicks off with an exfoliating peel to banish dead skin cells and reveal brighter, fresher skin beneath, which is then pampered to within an inch of its life with serums, masks and some fabulous facial massage, using two distinctive techniques that not only feel amazing, but leave skin visibly glowing with health.

And yes, I fell asleep, but rumours of drooling and snoring have been greatly exaggerated, I'm sure.

If you fancy trying it for yourself, The Kingsley is running a great value pamper package from €192.50 per person, including a refreshing Foot Soak, hot stone Back, Neck & Shoulder Massage and a Kerstin Florian Customised Deep Cleansing Facial, followed by lunch in The Springboard restaurant and an overnight stay. Check out the website for more details on The Spa at The Kingsley; Fluff and Fripperies was a guest of the hotel.
