Paddy's Day Makeup Picks

The wearing of the green for Paddy’s Day is a time-honoured custom and, while I don’t have huge amounts of this colour in my wardrobe, I like to give a wee nod to it through my makeup on the day.
Though I’m no stranger to a little glittery green shamrock on my cheek, these days I think eyes and nails are the easiest and most flattering ways to do this.

I only seem to wear green nail polish in the spring so I don’t like to spend too much on it:  some of my favourite picks are from Rimmel, Boots, L’Oreal and, for sheer value alone, you can’t beat this NYC mint shade from the Shine In A Minute range; it’s under two quid and it’s lovely and fresh.

This MAC Mineralize shadow in Smutty Green was an impulsive airport purchase a few years ago and it still gets pulled out for a big weekend night out. That sparkle doesn’t really translate to the eye but that actually makes it more wearable and it gives a nice intense smokey green eye that looks lovely with a peachy nude lip (such as any of these!).

Probably my favourite green of the moment though, and the one I’ll most likely be rocking on the day, is the Ombre Iridescent shadow from Clarins in Silver Green.  This is such a pretty, cool-toned shade that pairs perfectly with a balmy, pink lip – like the Clarins Instant Light Lip Perfector that I’ve teamed it with here in the bottom right pic. This cream to powder shadow is €22.50 and launched with the spring collection so you should find it on counter now.

What are your favourite green beauty bits, and will you be sporting them tomorrow?
