Chanel to Launch New Longwear Gel Nail Polish Line (Pics, Swatches)!

New Chanel Gel Nail Polish Le Vernis Duo

A new nail colour from Chanel is always big news among beauty lovers, so if you’re a fellow fan, prepare yourself: something enormously exciting is headed our way!  Now is the time to stock up on your favourite Chanel nail colours, because they might not be around for much longer. But don’t despair: from April, the brand will replace the old style Le Vernis with a brand spanking new longwear formula, Le Duo Vernis Longue Tenue.

That’s right, we’re not just talking one or two new colours, but a stellar line-up of 11 new shades, 4 cult favourites (Rouge Noir, Pirate, Particulière, Ballerina) and one topcoat, called Le Gel. They’ll all be €23.50, and the topcoat is the game-changer, promising a long-lasting, super shiny gel-manicure effect, without the UV lamp. Activated by natural light, Le Gel maintains shine and extends the wear of the polish for up to 6 days.

While Chanel’s not first-to-market with this type of technology, its version is definitely worth waiting for.  Just as the brand did with its excellent CC cream, it has bided its time, perfected its offering and come out with something that’s undoubtedly first-in-class.

Smoothly textured with a glossy, streak-free finish, the new formula does not disappoint. It’s also safer, stronger and more durable, with even fewer chemicals than the old 5-free formula, along with bioceramics to strengthen the nail, and ceramides to protect nail health.

I’ve been lucky enough to be an early tester of the line and, rather predictably, I’m totally in love. The packaging and the brush are almost unchanged, though the bottle is a little cleaner now, with the shade name and number positioned on the back, rather than the front. Of the new shades I was given, I gravitated immediately towards Organdi, the most beautiful nude pink, the fiery red Rouge Essentiel and chic crystalline grey, Monochrome. You can see them all on my nails here, where - to my delight - they lasted a solid 5-6 days. I’m currently sporting Roubachka, an inky dark purple, which is on day 4 (and can be checked out on my Instagram).

Chanel will also release one limited edition, Chaîne Or, inspired by the yellow gold chains of the famous quilted handbags. By its inclusion, I’d wager we’ll continue to see more limited shades being added to boost the permanent line. Check out the entire range on the Chanel website, or hotfoot it to your nearest counter on April 22nd to have a gander IRL.

Are you as excited as I am?

*One coat of Roubachka is applied to the nail wheel, it gets much more blackened and less blue based after two. Check it out on my Insta!
