Chanel's Spring Beauty Collection LA Sunrise Is A Breath of Fresh Air

Chanel Illusion D’Ombre eyeshadow Ocean Light

Spring beauty is sometimes a little…wishy washy, all soft and sugary sorbet and pastel shades, which are pretty in the palette, but hard to pull off on the actual face. Which is why Chanel’s offering is a breath of fresh air: full of bright and vibrant colours, it’s a cheering antidote to spring showers and a happy reminder that warmer, sunnier times are on their way. (Well, hopefully – this is Ireland, after all…)

Chanel Spring Sunkiss Ribbon Blush

Chanel’s beautiful limited edition blush palettes are often a standout of the season, and SS16 is no different. Sunkiss Ribbon, €57, is a light-diffusing blush in a palette of pretty pinks with coral and bronze; if you can bring yourself to swirl them all together (the things I do for you!) the end result is a brightening, rosy hue that flatters and freshens the face.

For spring, I’m a big fan of the nautical but nice-icle trend (see what I did there?!), and it pairs so well with a stripe. These two additions to the Illusion D’Ombre eyeshadow range, Griffith Green and Ocean Light, are beautiful: they’re saturated and glimmering for a striking, but wearable, look. Apply with your finger, or the very decent little brush that comes with.

Not a fan of a mermaid eye? Moonlight Pink (also limited) could be the one for you; these are all €30.50 and if you haven’t tried this slightly bouncy, cream-gel formula yet, I’m sorry to say you’ve been missing out; it’s seriously good, ridiculously easy to apply and it lasts and lasts.

Also for eyes: Le Volume de Chanel in Ardent Purple, €31.50, accompanies three new shades of Chanel’s long-lasting eyeliner, Stylo Yeux Waterproof (€24), in Fervent Green, Pacific Blue and Purple Choc. Because it’s waterproof, this is excellent on the waterline; I’m wearing Pacific Blue here on my lower lash line, with Griffith Green on the lid.

I’ve featured the nail colour already, because it’s a bit different and exciting (check out my review to see why!) An eyeshadow quad, €54, along with three shades of Rouge Coco Shine lipstick, rounds out the collection, and I plan to visit them all on counter very soon.

What about you - which pieces are on your new season shopping list?

Check out what else I'm loving from Chanel this season.
