No matter your budget, these last minute gift ideas should help you tick off what's left on your list...
ONE: What could be more wonderful than the gift of well-being? With a well-chosen piece from the Neom Organics Home Collection, you’re gifting so much more than home fragrance – like the gifts of calm, an energy boost or a good night’s sleep. My current favourites are the happiness and tranquillity candles – find them in Brown Thomas and selected salons (like Akina) or check their website for your nearest stockist.
TWO: Another gorgeous gift idea is the gift of travel, allowing the recipient to explore somewhere new (or much loved) and broaden their minds along with their experiences. The company is divisive but I’m firmly in the Pro Ryanair camp and their gift vouchers make a handy and hassle-free present.
THREE: Books are the bomb for gifting. Share something you love and think they will too, or select something on a topic you know they’re into. If you’re struggling, the Penguin Cloth Bound series is pretty foolproof – I collect these myself and, as well as being classics, they look great on the shelf - and the beautifully designed Roads collection, with original and contemporary cover art, is another great pick. For lovers of non-fiction, Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind is a fascinating read.
FOUR: The gift of a little time-out and pampering is one that’s always well received (hear that, Santa?) and, with a judiciously chosen voucher, you’re sure to put a smile on someone’s face. The Spa at the Shelbourne – or the newly opened Salon at The Shelbourne – have a great range of gifting options and, if money is no object, a voucher for an Irish spa hotel would be my personal idea of heaven. There are some great deals for Irish spa hotels for early in the new year, and if I can organise myself, I might dedicate a separate post to them as a heavy hint to a certain Mr Fluff. In the meantime, check out my reviews.
FIVE: Whether it’s to accompany those vouchers or as a stand-alone gift, something hand-made always goes down well. Even though I’m rubbish in the kitchen, I managed to whip up these peppermint creams. Eventually. It doesn't get much easier!
SIX: Buying local and supporting the economy is always a good idea and, with so many brilliant Irish brands, we’re spoiled for choice. I love Nima Brush for beauty tools, So Su by Suzanne Jackson for gorgeous gel nail polish and La Bougie or Brooke & Shoals for candles – browse more great Irish brands here.
SEVEN: This entire blog is pretty much filled with beauty gift ideas so I’ll keep this brief. The Chanel Rouge Noir collection was my favourite beauty drop this year. Charlotte Tilbury’s gifting options are only gorgeous. And Gwen Stefani’s limited edition palette for Urban Decay is an absolute beaut. You can also check out my suggestions in the Irish Times magazine, as well as my stocking stuffer guide.
