|Eavanna Breen, Akina|
Eavanna at Akina talked me through the Neom concept. Made with 100% natural - and ethically sourced – ingredients, the entire range centres around one concept: well-being. The products are made from the highest possible percentage of the purest essential oils and are designed not only to smell and feel fantastic, but to provide genuine therapeutic benefits.
Ideal for gifting, the range has grown from an initial five candles to incorporate bespoke treatments, along with a wider selection of candle scents, reed diffusers, room mists, and a host of divinely formulated and scented bath and body products.
As for the treatments, they blend elements of shiatsu, cranio, Thai massage, trigger point and reflexology with one of four aims; to provide the perfect night’s sleep, boost energy, lift your mood or relieve stress.
I’ve struggled with more than a few sleepless nights lately so I knew exactly which treatment I wanted; if you’re less sure, take the Scent Test, where you pick the aroma that appeals to you most in that moment, which will dictate your treatment.
Over the next 90 minutes Eavanna coaxed me into a level of unparalleled relaxation. We started with a guided meditation and progressed through various forms of massage therapy using Neom’s Tranquility blend of 19 essential oils, including lavender, sweet basil and jasmine. I was so mellow that I didn’t even fret about proceedings coming to an end, which is a thought I often have to banish from a treatment room.
I floated off home clutching samples of the Tranquility pillow mist and pulse-point oil – included in the price of the treatment - which I definitely didn’t need that night. I conked out almost immediately and enjoyed the most delicious and relaxed night’s rest.
The upshot of all of this is, of course, that I’m now mad about both Neom and Eavanna, and go a bit misty-eyed and evangelical when talking of either. Seriously where have they been all my life? I’ve also been motivated to start a whole little well-being kick of my own, in the hopes of balancing out my sleep patterns (step one: the Neom Tranquility candle; more anon).
