I really enjoy a good floriental fragrance at this time of year: something with a bit of warmth and spice, to offset the crisp autumn air. Jo Malone’s Mimosa & Cardamom launched last month and it definitely fits the bill - although it’s not what you might expect.
Lighter and greener than your usual oriental-floral, which can be quite heady, this has a freshness, a subtlety and a warm, honeyed edge. The ‘new bohemian’ is how it’s being described, and that captures it beautifully: it’s a bright, carefree and cheerful sort of scent, if not quite mysterious or exotic.
The cardamom and mimosa are perfectly blended and this has become a firm favourite; it’s addictive, lasts well on my skin and I catch delicate, uplifting wafts throughout the day.
It also layers beautifully: the brand showcased it with English Pear & Freesia and Tuberose Angelica at the launch, and they were both divine, but I’ve been loving it at night over the more intense and smoky Oud & Bergamot.
In short: if you’re on the hunt for a new fragrance, don’t pass this one by. As well as the (unisex) cologne, from €52, the Mimosa & Cardamom range includes a body and hand wash, €35, body cream, €65, and, candle, €52. Did you hear that Santa? I said CANDLE, €52.
Tried this? Thoughts?
