Where do we all stand on beauty boxes, then? I thought I was, like, so over them – but then Emma (other Emma!) started to put ideas in my head…
I was recently invited along to an evening in the totally gorgeous L’Occitane store in Convent Garden Market to check out their collaboration with My Little Box. And what a collaboration this is….
For those unfamiliar, my Little Box is a subscription service for beauty, fashion and lifestyle enthusiasts, who want beautifully designed and expertly themed treasures delivered to your door every month. Each box contains a number of cute little samples of the latest products associated with the theme for that month.
The box I sampled was the My Little Provence Box, so the perfect partner was L’Occitane. Now obviously contents vary month to month, but if this box is in any way representative, then colour me impressed. The box was also a great introduction to L'Occitane. Ready for some mini reviews?
Mer and Mistral Shower Gel by L’Occitane en Provence: This smells divine, like summer in a bottle! Left my skin feeling soft, clean and smelling great.
Verbena Body Lotion by L’Occitane en Provence: This lotion is fantastic, completely refreshing and non-greasy, my skin felt incredibly moisturised all-day but never sticky or oily. It absorbs super quickly.
Verbena Leaf Soap by L’Occitane en Provence: Smells fresh, but it did leave that tightness you get after soap use. Although I must admit my skin stayed oil free, yet not at all dry throughout the day. Result! (I have actually bought myself more of this soap since writing the review- its great for my skin.)
Roses et Reines Hand and Nail Cream by L’Occitane en Provence: I have an obsession with rose scents so loved this hand and nail cream… of course!
Eye shadow crayon by My Little Beauty: This came in a lovely deep coppery/ bronze which I just love; it was a little dark for a day look but it looks fantastic at night and is so handy to slip in your clutch! This was really great quality and it’s hard to believe it was created by My Little Box – I would buy this as a stand-alone item - I'm applying it in the top photo here.
My Little Doll Magnets from My Little Doll Magnets: These are incredibly cute, and my friend’s kids have great fun playing with them when they visit!
Embroidery Cuff from Mylittlecorner.com: I didn’t quite get round to the embroidery but the cuff itself was pretty cool on its own.
The verdict: I'm smitten with the packaging for My Little Box, the illustrations are unequivocally feminine, elegant, cool and very pretty. I also really enjoyed the contents. At £14.95 a month it’s not necessarily something I would subscribe to for myself, but if I got it as a gift I would be chuffed. Each box comes with a magazine and art print and you can find out more on the website here.
