Emma Mac puts the latest haircare launch through its paces!
According to Dove “94% of women in the UK are unhappy with their hair”, but they have a solution…in fact, they actually have three. The brand has introduced a premium range (but don’t worry, it’s still affordable), called the Dove Advanced Hair Series, which is tailored for individual needs. This range is about the science, it’s about the ingredients and it’s about quality.
Across all Dove products the belief that beauty begins with confidence is fundamental – this range is no different (and I definitely agree). The Advanced Hair Series is made up of three categories: Oxygen Moisture, Pure Care Dry Oil, and my personal favourite, Youthful Vitality.
Consisting of an everyday shampoo, conditioner, Soufflé Treatment and a Root Lift Spray, Oxygen Moisture is designed to replenish lost moisture while adding that much coveted volume.
I’ve been trying out the shampoo and conditioner. First the good news: the products smell great and the shampoo left my hair fresh and clean. The not so good? I have extremely fine and dry hair but lots of it, and it’s been bleached too many times to remember. It’s a tough challenge for any product, but I didn’t see the volume that was promised and I struggled to get a tangle teaser through my hair after conditioning.
The Pure Care Dry Oil range is the result of six years of research and development, and is aimed at dry and lifeless locks. This range consists of a Dry Oil Shampoo, Conditioner, Treatment Mask, a treatment for all hair types and a restorative Treatment for Mature Hair. All products in the range contain nourishing African macadamia oil, pomegranate seed oil and Omega 5.
I added the Pure Care Dry Oil Nourishing Treatment to my usual routine; this really smells divine, with that lovely summer—holiday coconut vibe. My hair felt softer without a doubt, but I noticed about midday that it started to look a little lifeless and flat - normally my 6pm look! This will be great on thicker, drier hair; I’ll be using mine as a weekly treatment because it definitely helps my dry ends.
And so onto the Youthful Vitality range, which replaces the nutrients our hair loses with age – the equivalent to anti-wrinkle cream for the hair! Products include a body building shampoo and conditioner, a thickening essence hair spritz and the youthful vitality BB Cream. These products work best for my hair, and the BB cream especially impressed me: after a full day of wind, rain and the sweltering heat of the London commute, a few drops of this little potion and my hair was magically restored. I am continuing my love affair with this product and have added it to my everyday routine. It really does seems to nourish and replenish my hair, making it look and feel softer, which in my book is a victory!
You’ll find the range in Boots, Superdrug and all major super markets, and retailing from £5.99 for the Shampoo and conditioner (€7.49 in Ireland) to £9.99 for the Oil treatment. The BB cream retails at £6.99/€9.99 (Irish ladies, it’s all on sale on boots.ie now!).
