Brilliant New Budget Beauty Buys: Rimmel, Boots, NYC and L'Oreal

Best Budget Beauty Buys Rimmel Boots No 7 NYC L'Oreal

Life (and home buying/interiors shopping) has distracted me from makeup in recent weeks; it feels like I glanced away, looked back and found myself surrounded by the most wonderful beauty bits that you need to know about now.  The really great news is that much of it is really affordable too, so you can do a quick dash out on your lunch-break and snap up a few bits without compromising on those cushions you’ve been dreaming about. Oh wait, maybe that’s just me…

NYC New York Color Nail Polish

Firstly, interesting news from NYC; I’ve always rated the nail offerings from this brand and this month saw a relaunch of its Shine In a Minute and Gel Gloss ranges, with improved formulas, loads of new colours and the same tiny prices (everything’s under €2). You can’t go wrong with these classic red, summery mint or chic taupe shades, and the application and wear-time would leave far pricier brands in the shade.

One - speedy - coat (it could have done with two but I was in a hurry!)

Also gorgeous are the new summery cheek offerings from Boots No 7; the Shimmer Palette comes in Caramel (pictured) or Rose, and it’s a little stunner. At €17.50 it’s a few bob more than I expected, but it’s still priced favourably compared to products of a similar quality – and it’s just SO pretty. As is the new incarnation of the No 7 Pop & Glow stick, which now combines a shimmery bronzer and blusher in one. This is Sunset Glow; Sunrise is also available and they’re both €12.95. Holiday cheeks, sorted.

And for sexy, shiny, summer lips, leave it to Rimmel and the new Oh My Gloss! Range. There’s an 8-strong shade range here in Ireland (more are available elsewhere so we might get ‘em eventually if we pray to the makeup gods) and what’s really lovely about these is the formula; with argan oil and vitamin E to condition and nourish the lips, they feel like a treatment product and aren’t one bit sticky or gloopy.

Rimmel Ooh La La Gloss

They’re €6.99 a pop and I’m wearing Ooh La La in the photo above (and here); it looks red in the tube but translates to a wearable, rosy shade on the lips. I also love the beigey nude, Snog, and pretty pink, Stay My Rose, which are both pictured below.

Not a gloss girl? You’ll want to check out the new shades of L’Oreal Paris Color Riche lipstick, launched to celebrate its 30th anniversary this year (along with this rather lovely little promo film from French director Bruno Aveillan, featuring some of the most iconic faces of the brand.) The shades in the top photo are some of my favourites: Nude, Crazy Fuchsia and the bold red, Place Vendome.

Tempted by anything here?
