Normally when I get my hands on the summer beauty collections, I have to wait a considerable amount of time for the balmy, sunny weather to go with them. But when a few bits from Elizabeth Arden’s Sunkissed Pearls collection dropped through the letter box, it just so happened that I was flying off to Portugal a couple of days later. I really enjoyed using them while away and found them great for warmer weather, but truth be told, they’ve come in just as handy now I’m home.
The mugshots below are taken at my desk at 11am on a cold, grey Dublin morning – but the makeup still looks good (despite being slapped on at 7am in a matter of seconds), and has withstood several cups of tea and a banana before I got round to taking these snaps.
The collection includes a trio of lip glosses, €35, a gel eye liner, €22, and an insanely pretty bronzer and highlighter palette, €36. But it was the new Sunkissed Pearls Cream Eye Shadow Stylos that excited me most, and I got two to play with, in Fresh Water Pearl and Blue Pearl. I’m wearing Fresh Water Pearl in the photos, which is a pink champagne shade that’s easy to wear and draws the light, adding just a little somethin’ somethin’ to the eye.
Ideal for everyday wear, this is the type of shade that I can scribble on in the morning, blend any harsh lines with my finger and forget about for the rest of the day; these babies last. Plus, this type of product is brilliant for disguising a hangover - do with that information what you will!
Blue Pearl is a shimmering aqua that is equally pretty but a bolder colour to wear; this is one that’s perfect for summer nights and looks great with a peach or coral lip and cheek.
As for the formula? Fantastic, I’m delighted to report; soft and creamy, a doddle to apply and with a nice, smooth finish – plus you’re also getting the benefit of skin friendly ingredients like aloe and jojoba oils and Vitamin E. At €23 a pop, this is a lovely product that any cream shadow fans will get on well with; it’s definitely worth checking out and there are five pretty colours in the range.
I was also given one of the newish Beautiful Colour Moisturising Lipsticks, €26, to try out, in the shade Bold Red. This is such a wearable way to wear red: it feels velvety and soft and, despite the shade name, the colour isn’t too imposing; it’s a soft, medium shade that’s not too bright or too bold, and should suit most skin tones.
The packaging is also lovely; both the gold case and the bullet are embossed with the red door logo and have a pleasingly high-end feel.
Are we feeling that summer vibe yet?
