Spring Wardrobe Updates: Denim and Tan

Spring Fashion Essentials

Denim is definitely one of the biggest trends for the new season. Between Alexa’s new collection for AG Jeans (designed, we're told, around the missing items from her ‘dream denim’ collection) and the high-street (River Island and Oasis have particularly strong denim offerings right now), this is a great time to beef up your own casual wardrobe - and I’ve been doing just that.

It started with this M&S Collection shirt (€38) in the palest, sky blue wash. It’s lightweight, hangs nicely and looks good tucked into skirts, or worn loose over skinnies and pencil skirts. Then I picked up this River Island dress (€55), which is casual, but stylish, and ticks two trend boxes in one – the shirt dress is another key piece for spring, and will quickly become one of the hardest working pieces in your wardrobe.

But what to wear with them? Despite owning (at a conservative estimate) about a million pairs of black ankle boots, I only had this pair in brown – so I snapped up these Miss KG for Kurt Geiger Saint boots, in the Arnotts sale; they were about €70 (check out my other UH-MAZING sales bargain!).  For warmer weather (a girl can dream), I also bought these leather peep toe shoe boots from Carvela in Brown Thomas (€110) ; the stacked wooden heel gives me a bit of leg-lengthening height while also being comfy enough to wear all day.

Also on my SS15 wishlist: these Topshop ripped Leigh jeans (since I saw them on Aisling and the rest of the gang in a recent issue of U Magazine), these River Island tinted lense sunnies (a more affordable version of my Tom Ford favourites) and this Stella & Dot gold pendant, to wear with all my new bits and bobs (look, it was my birthday month, I'm allowed to go a bit mad!).  What’s on your new season shopping wish list?
