What's In My Holiday Beauty Bag?

Holiday Beauty Bag Fluff and Fripperies

Happy new year! Ok, I know the festive season is over: my inbox is jammed full of junk mail telling me to lose weight, detox and get on that new year, new me bandwagon. But let's hold on to the shiny, happy feelings for as long as possible and just be kind and good to ourselves till January is done and dusted. (And if that means a little sales shopping, hey, what harm?)

I'm surrounded by the detritus of our trip back to Scotland; half emptied cases and laundry mountains are calling but before I get right on that (procrastinate? me?) I feel it's far more pressing to share the contents of my holiday beauty bag and show you what, after considerable hemming and hawing, I chose to bring along for nearly two weeks away from home.

Baggage restrictions kept things fairly minimal, I reckon, with just three lipsticks (this fabulous matte Chanel red, a pink matte MAC shade, Good Kisser, and the bright orangey-red Impassioned from the excellent Estee Lauder Pure Colour Envy range) and two eyeshadow palettes; this beauty from Charlotte Tilbury and the Bobbi Brown christmas offering I showed you recently.

Eyelash extensions meant there was no need for mascara or liner and the only brow product I packed was Rimmel's Brow This Way Sculpting Kit (which is very good, but a little too warm for my colouring - as you can see from the snap below of my makeup from Christmas day.)

Clarins and Chanel covered all bases: I brought this excellent CC cream for low-key days and walks on the beach (reviewed here), and the Clarins Extra Comfort foundation for all other occasions. This stuff is fantastic: it layers beautifully and hides a multitude. The Chantecaille concealer (reviewed here) is my current fave so it came along too, as did my trusty MAC Blot Powder, which ranks in my top five MAC products, ever!

For cheeks, Chanel's Jersey blush, the mango Boots No 7 Pop and Glow blush stick and Charlotte Tilbury's Filmstar bronze and glow palette all came too - but were sadly neglected, as soon as I opened a particular present on Christmas morning; more anon!

Oh, and fancy seeing which of these made my best in beauty list for 2014? Right this way!
