Cold Snap? What Cold Snap? #ArnottsSS15

We might be gearing up for the coldest winter since 1963 (EEK!) but last week my mind was firmly on balmier and more clement times, as I watched the parade of stylish shorts and sundresses sashay down the runway for the Arnotts SS15 fashion show.

Held in Dublin’s Wood Quay Venue, the event gave us a taste of what we can expect from the department store next season. From ethnic and floral to nautical, print will be a massive story (and, if you just want to give a nod to the trend, there are two lovely accessory brands launching, Bella Ballou and Laura Orchant, who both specialise in gorgeous printed scarves.)

It's great to see that Arnotts will be adding to its Irish portfolio, with Manley by Emma Manley, Caroline Kilkenny and Umit Kutluk all launching in February.

Arnotts Spring Summer 2015

I’m delighted to see that the ladylike trend is also going nowhere: I’m a fan of a full, flirty skirt and think it’s a lovely warm-weather look; think Brigitte Bardot holidaying on Capri. I especially liked this jade printed number by L.K.Bennett, €295, and the lemon midi skirt from Tara Jarmon, €290.

Also noteworthy was the use of colour; acid brights, monochrome, navy and neon yellow all featured along with the usual sugary spring pastels. There were lots of citrus splashes when it came to footwear, too – everywhere from Carvela and Lucy Choi to Buffalo - and for handbags, cobalt seems to be the colour of the season. I fully intended to invest in a cobalt bag last spring but never quite got round to it…I shall try again next year!  The mini bag will also be big (no pun intended!) but I’ll take some persuading to step away from my oversized totes.

And for the menfolk? Vintage and retro styles abound, with bomber jackets making a comeback and the classic tailored blazer and shorts combo offering a smarter alternative.

Anything catching your eye?

There are some more snaps of my favourite pieces on the Fluff and Fripperies facebook page if you want to head on over and take a look.
