Easy, Everyday Lips from Bobbi Brown, Clarins and YSL

L-R: Clarins, YSL, Bobbi Brown
I can spot an orangey-red lipstick at 100 yards (and if you've ever seen a woman inelegantly stampeding across the Brown Thomas beauty hall, that's probably just what's happened), but if a lippy's in the pink, mauve or soft berry spectrum it will probably have been invisible to me - until this season.

Maybe I'm maturing - or perhaps it's the Kylie Jenner effect - but my most reached for lipsticks in recent times have been quite subtle, understated and office appropriate shades that actually make great daytime picks.

Take Clarins Rouge Eclat in Pink Magnolia, €23, from their very lovely autumn collection, as the perfect example. A rosy-toned nude with a hydrating, Vitamin E enriched formula, this is a semi-sheer, my-lips-but-better shade that lifts and polishes my look.

From YSL's autumn collection, Black Fetish, I've also been loving the creamy matte shade #207, Rose Perfecto. This soft, plummy pink, €33, is a limited shade that I wrote about here - it's longlasting, fades evenly and leaves a pretty stain behind.

This summer, Bobbi Brown launched Crazy for Colour, a range of 30 lipsticks - some brand new, some re-releases - in nudes, brights and bolds. These are €26 and offer creamy, semi-matte colour with buildable coverage: I've been smudging Hot Tutu, a mid-toned pink, into my lips with my finger for a subtle stain.

What do you reckon, have I been missing a trick or should I go back to my bolds?
