I love these chunky little cheek crayons so much that I can’t believe my negligence in not getting them on the blog sooner. Sure, I included them in my round-up of standout new season beauty bits, but they really deserve a post all of their own.
The Chubby Stick franchise has basically rocked my world, and made makeup easier and more fun for women everywhere. They’ve spawned a thousand copies but Clinique’s are the original and best: so cute! So easy! So quick! So fun! Umm…can you tell I’m a fan?!
Four shades of Chubby Stick Cheek Colour Balm have joined the Chubby family, which now includes the original and intense versions for lips, along with the Chubbys for eyes. The cheek offerings are heftier, and more rounded at the top – which makes for easier application.
The shade names and descriptions – Robust Rhubarb, Roly Poly Rosy, Amp’d Up Apple and Plumped Up Peony, as pictured from left to right, above – are actually a little misleading; Amp’d Up Apple, for example, is described as ‘a blushing red’, when it’s actually a lovely neutral hue. So pay attention to swatches if you’re buying online, or go visit them on counter.
I’ve swatched them all here at the press launch, but it’s Robust Rhubarb I’ve been wearing on a near daily basis; a gorgeous peachy shade, it applies semi-sheer for a fresh, natural flush of colour. See Exhibit A, below:
The gel-like, oil-free formula glides on like butter on an M&S Crumpet (note to self: hit up M&S on the way home): just dot it on, blend outwards and upwards, and repeat on the other cheek. Clinique call these mistake-proof, and they really are – you could do it in the dark and not muck it up. And on some mornings I actually have.
These are €24; will you be checking them out?
Psst! At the time of writing you can find 10% off Clinique's Chubby Sticks family here.
