Clarins LadyLike Autumn Beauty Collection: Get It While You Can!
It's almost time to talk about the Christmas beauty edits - I know, I know, but they'll be on counter soon and anyway, it's only nine weeks till the day itself. But before we dive headfirst into all things festive, I wanted to dedicate a post to one of my favourite autumn offerings: the Ladylike collection from Clarins.
This is a brand with a first-class skincare pedigree, which has overshadowed its makeup a little in the past. That's changing - the lip perfectors, bronzers and foundations, for example, all have legions of fans - but Clarins' cosmetics still deserve more love.
Their current collection is a case in point: easy-to-use makeup you can throw on with confidence, in a selection of timeless, suits-everyone and wear-anywhere shades.
It's heavily focused on the eyes: the individual cream-to-powder shadows have garnered plenty of attention (and they're lovely; see Frillseeker's review) but the Eye Quartet Mineral Palette in Skin Tones, €41, is equally good.
The four sophisticated, cool-toned neutrals- from taupe through to espresso - deliver a really easy, naturally contoured eye look; it works just as well for a speedy work eye as it does with a bright red lip and some flicky liner, or with some smudgy kohl.
The pigmentation is sheer to medium - they've been designed to be easy to work with and blend - but you can also use wet for more intense payoff. I don't bother as I like the softly natural finish; it's similar to the new Estee Lauder quads or some of the Bobbi Brown palettes so if you like those, you'll get on nicely with this.
I've been layering them over the Instant Light Eye Perfecting Base, €25, which provides a nice even base, emphasises the colours a little and helps them last longer on the skin.
The other really exciting eye launch is the revamped Kit Sourcils Pro Perfect Eyes & Brows Palette, €41, which is just an all-round fabulous bit of kit.
With three eye/brow powders, a transparent wax and nude pink eyeshadow, along with three mini tools including tweezers, it's practically identical to the old, silver version - except in a dinkier, more portable and more glamorous gold mirrored case. It contains everything you need for brilliant brows - if you need more persuading, check out Kat's review on Dollyrouge.
Six lipstick shades, a blusher and a limited, brown version of the brand's 3-dot liner round out the collection which, if you haven't already, is definitely worth scoping out.
I also love the autumn releases from Bobbi Brown and Chanel so if you haven't already, click through and check out my reviews - they won't be on counter much longer.
What makeup are you enjoying this season?
