Best Websites for Gifts? Let’s Have a Show and Tell!
I was mooching around the internet lately looking for a pressie for my BFF and you know what, it’s harder than it sounds. I love buying gifts but over the years I’ve fallen into a gift-givers rut; there’s a few regular haunts I frequent – like Etsy for prints and craftsy bits, Moonpig for last minute, personalised cards, or Not On The Highstreet for jewellery and homeware – and it’s time to shake things up a bit.
So let’s have a show and tell – where do you love to buy gifts online?
Recently, I discovered Ask Her Friends, which is great for fashion, food and stationery in particular, and I always turn to Punk Rock Baby for lullaby cds and baby t-shirts with a difference.
Anthropologie do the cutest booties and knitted toys, and their gorgeous glassware is great for a housewarming gift, or just because. They’ve lots of other fab bits too, but they’re rather spendy.
You all know how I feel about pampering, so it’s no surprise I advocate the gift of relaxation – there are few people who wouldn’t benefit from a lovely treatment or a day at the spa. It’s not the cheapest option but there are always deals on Groupon. Right now, for example, you can find deals like an hour-long massage for €29. (And hey, nothing wrong with a little self-gifting either...)
An at-home spa experience is always lovely, too: I’ve bundled up candles, books and bath treats as an inexpensive but hopefully welcome treat, before. L’Occitane, Lush and Irish brand Voya are all great options here.
If none of these tickle your pickle, then how about something quirky and unique? Buzzfeed has a fun list of gifts for the impossibly cool person in your life; I love the aggressive stationery. Another idea I’ve always liked is to name a star for your loved one or friend. It strikes me as rather romantic.
If I’ve missed any gems, make sure to leave them in the comments!
