Effortless, Glowy, Everyday Summer Makeup

Easy Summer Makeup Look

I've been all about this makeup look recently: a quick, laidback, summer look with the focus on glowing, bronzey skin and a simple, one-step eye. Using a mix of high-end and affordable products, they're all easy to work with and look lovely in the sunshine.

Base wise, I find my BB creams are sliding off my face - so a high SPF foundation is a great choice for protection plus coverage. (Check out my favourites on Frillseeker or have a look at the Shiseido Sun Protection in action here.)

I also love a mattifying base that doesn't mask the skin - but dang, that combo's hard to find. Thank the baby Jebus, then, for Chanel's Perfection Lumiere Velvet foundation, which is absolutely gorgeous: it's lightweight, natural looking but lasts really well and gives a lovely demi-matte finish.  It's what I'm wearing here, along with L'Occitane's Brightening Touch concealer which is brilliant for underneath the eyes (check out my full review).

Then the fun part: the cheeks! I've discovered an amazing bronze and highlight combination which deserves a separate post - but you can get a sneaky peek by checking out my video below.

Blush here is courtesy of NYC's BB Beautifying Blushable Cream Stick which you totally need - these are excellent, with a formula that rivals many higher end brands. They blend easily, have great colour payoff and don't mess up your base - and they're just €3.49. I know, ridic!

I cannot deal with fussy eye looks in the warmer weather - for me, it's all about the simple, one-step eye and I think a warm, metallic bronze looks really gorgeous on most skintones in the sun. I have a couple of favourites but my latest buy is Chanel's Illusion D'Ombre in Mirage, which is knee-wobblingly good: a gorgeous shade, superb colour payoff, effortless to apply and lasts a solid 8 or 9 hours at least. You can read more about it here.

A bright pop of colour on the lips - L'Oreal's creamy, pigmented Glam Mattes, €11.99, are to die for - and some of my favourite mascara, and boom! Irish summer, I'm coming at ya.

What's your favourite, easy summer go-to look?
