New this month from Origins is the Plantscription Powerful Lifting Cream, €69, which promises to deliver a heart-shaped face. Fittingly, so, it landed on counters this Valentine’s Day - but I had an advance demo of the product in action, as part of a recent Origins facial*.
So what’s all this about a heart-shaped face, then, and why would you want one? Apparently, it’s the result of lifted and contoured facial structures – think plumped up skin, teamed with chiselled cheeks and a firm, tight jaw line. And, you guessed it, that’s what this cream seeks to deliver; clinical studies say 92% of users showed visibly lifted and re-contoured skin in just two weeks.
A potent blend of naturally active ingredients work to restore volume and definition, along with boosting the moisture levels of the skin. The ingredients list shows a few things you might expect, like hyaluronic acid and, if you know the brand well, anogeissus (they regularly include extracts of this tree in their anti-ageing formulas, as it can help to repair the appearance of line and wrinkles). It also includes some more exotic ingredients like Indian Commiphora resin, which restores lost volume to the skin, and raspberry plant stem cells.
To showcase the product, Origins have created the Touch of Youth facial which is carried out with the brand’s new mini facial tool, pictured above, which is designed to enhance the benefits and absorption of the cream. Used together, the treatment helps contour and sculpt the jaw area, increasing radiance and smoothing and lifting the skin. The tool felt amazing as it eased out knots of tension around my eyes and cheeks, and afterwards, I saw a noticeable difference: plumped up, healthy looking skin with that glorious post-facial glow.
The cream has a luxe, rich texture and, because my skin likes a lighter lotion for day, I’ve been reserving it for night-time use. It’s only been a few weeks, but already I can report more plumped up, hydrated skin than would be usual at this time of year, and with the weather we’ve had. I’ve had no issues with congestion or sensitivity and, for those who are wondering, all Origins products are cruelty free and formulated without parabens, mineral oil, paraffin or other chemical ingredients. It’s a really lovely brand (check out some of my favourite products here and here) and this is yet another offering from their range that gets the Fluff and Fripperies seal of approval. Have you tried it, or would you like to?
*The facial is available at the Origins counter at Arnotts, either on counter or in the store’s dedicated beauty room (subject to availability). All Origins facials are complimentary - give Arnotts a call on 01 805 0400 for more.
