|With the lovely Allsun, who got a regular blowdry - doesn't she look fab?|
As I write this I am obsessively stroking my hair, which for the first time EVER has dried naturally into soft, shiny, frizz-free waves. It's something of a miracle, and it's all down to the Intense Revival System at Queen Salon, on Dublin's Aungier Street.
This conditioning, strengthening treatment, available exclusively at Queen, is basically a kinder version of the 12 Week Blowdry, without any scary formaldehyde. Formulated with keratin and other active, natural ingredients, it's intended to seal in colour and leave hair looking and feeling great. It won't straighten your hair, but it will leave it feeling sleek, shiny, healthy and much more manageable.
After a shampoo and towel dry, the treatment is applied to hair from root to tip, in segments. It's left for five minutes to infuse, before being rinsed and followed with a special leave-in conditioner. The final step is to flat-iron the hair to seal the products in, and the results can be expected to last up to 30 days.
The treatment is fast and fuss-free, adding just 15 minutes on to a regular blowdry, and is priced at €55 - which, considering I've already had a week of great hair days and counting, I reckon is money well spent. I've also been using the argan-infused Evolution Keratin shampoo and conditioner at home, as advised, and my hair has been loving the combo.
A final word on Queen: not only did they tidy up this haircut, but they offer a free refresher service between cuts and some of the best customer service I've experienced. I will definitely be back.
