Chanel Vitalumiere Compact Douceur Foundation Review, Before and After Photos

Elegance and ease don't always go hand in hand, but Chanel's new compact foundation is bucking the trend. Featherlight and simple to use, Vitalumiere Compact Douceur is a silky and finely milled pressed powder, offering light to medium coverage with SPF 10.

Shade 30 Beige
It's available in six shades, with a choice of undertones: Beige, to match your natural skintone, and Beige Rose for an anti-fatigue effect. I'm usually 20 Beige in Chanel foundations and was advised to choose a shade higher to find my perfect match.

Every bit as sleek and chic as you'd expect, the glossy black compact is also hardy enough to live in your handbag, and a useful companion too - the large mirror is incredibly handy.

I've had it to trial for the past few weeks and find myself increasingly impressed. Coverage is sheer, the idea being that with advances in skincare, we don't want to hide our skin under make up. But as you can see from my before and after photos, it does a lovely job of evening my skintone, concealing redness and giving skin a velvety, soft-focus effect. (And that's despite being sick with the flu!)

I also like its versatility: apply with the sponge as a foundation, or sweep on with a brush, as a powder.  It's really two products in one, making it seem like €52 well spent. Refills are €39.50.

Look for it from October 18th.  Are we liking?

Totally! I bought the Chanel Perfection Lumiere foundation a month ago, and had exactly the same experience: So light texture, yet, an amazing coverage power. It doesn't feel like you are wearing any foundation. Kuddos to Chanel, they know what they are doing! :) Hope you recovered from the flu! Xo,

LOVING! I adore powder foundations to mop up oily breakthrough, but some of them are so heavy/cakey. This has gone to the very top of my wishlist <3

Seriously, how did you ever become such an expert on makeup? I am so horribly clueless about all of it. And there is so much out there that it is very overwhelming to me.

It does look velvety-smooth. Love that! wish my skin was good enough to just wear a light-coverage foundation!

This looks great, do you have dry skin? I often find I can't use powders due to having dry skin. What has your experience been?

My skin is normal/combination but this is intended to work with all skin types, even dry - it really is that silky. Check it out on counter and see what you think!

Looks lovely! When you say that the recommendation is to up a shade - do you mean that if you were Beige 10 you should choose Beige 20, or the reverse, if you would be Beige 20, you should Beige 10?
