Ladies and, well, mainly ladies I’m guessing, hang on to your lipstick loving hearts or prepare to lose ‘em to this beauty - just like I did.
Part of Givenchy's 12-strong Le Rouge lipstick line, which launched earlier this spring, Rouge Egerie came home with me from Sephora in Paris - where I parted with 33 of my finest eurobucks for the privilege.
So, was it worth the splurge?
Oh, I think you already know the answer to that one. From the sleek leather and metal sheath (oo-err, missus!) to the pretty pinkish-red shade to the damn near perfect consistency and excellent wear-time, this looks and feels like a luxury buy.
These lippies are described as matte, but they’re a very modern matte – meaning you do get that slightly velvety finish, but with a hint of satiny-sheen that really makes a difference.
This applies smoothly, doesn’t emphasise those pesky little dry patches and makes my lips look plumped up and even.
The formula feels creamy and comfortable, but it’s not smooshy or balm like so it has more staying power, without drying out my lips.
There’s a subtle fruity fragrance - the key word being subtle, this won’t offend your nose – and these are perfectly pigmented too; Rouge Egerie is opaque in just one swipe.
So yes, all round lovely lipstick, meaning the cost is entirely justifiable. . .in my own head, anyway. Are you with me, or do you think I’ve lost the run of myself altogether?
