Hair Products That Didn't Work Out For Me

I really liked both of these products when I started to use them but several weeks in, I'm afraid I'm no longer so impressed. At my most recent visit to the hairdressers, the lovely Niamh rubbed the ends of my hair together and wondered was I remembering to use hair oil after every wash. And I was - it's one of the few things I'm really conscientious about.

Moroccanoil and L'Oreal Elvive Triple Revive Hair Mask

With long, thick and naturally dry hair, bleaching the feck out of the ends was bound to take its toll - so hair oils and masks are part of my regular routine. I've tried all sorts and for the main, find they mostly do the trick in restoring some much needed nourishment to my frazzled locks. But my current combination of L'Oreal Elvive Triple Resist and Moroccanoil just ain't doing the trick in the moisturising stakes.

While these feel nice and smell nice and all that jazz, the sad fact is that my hair feels dry and lacklustre after several weeks constant use. Both products are being retired, and replaced with some L'Occitane goodies and a Kiehl's oil-in-cream product I have on emergency standby. Watch this space.

Has anything let you down lately?

I gave up on L'Oreal long time ago, it's just not good for my hair. Have you tried Schwarzkopf total repair? I love it!

Melita I got it for my birthday last year and really liked it - in fact I think I still have half a bottle of the treatment in my bathroom somewhere! I like a lot of L'Oreal hair products but this mask just isn't doing it for me.

Have you tried any Delorenzo products? I have found some nice ones in their range including the oil spray - all good for adding moisture! :)

Afraid not - have never set eyes on any, I don't think!

This is really interesting, darling. As far as Kerastase vs. Morocan Oil products, can you tell which brand is better? Now that you mention Occitane products, I'll try them too. My hair is not dry, but we all need good nourishing and moisturising, right? Xo,

Elsa, I'd go with Kerastase xo

I have dark naturally dry hair that's ombred on the ends and I recently ran out of Moroccan Oil and I've noticed a significant difference in how rough the ends of my hair look so the Moroccan Oil was definitely working for me, they were still dry but not half as bad as they are now.

Yvonne I definitely think it's better than nothing - just for me, there are more nourishing hair oils out there. But everyone's hair is different!

Emma, I'm getting a bottle of Kerastase Elixir K Ultimate Hair Oil in a swap so hopefully that will do the trick. Have you tried it?

Really? I love Moroccan oil, but I use it as a treatment rather than after every wash. I love the smell too.

The Loreal Elvive has gone in the bin in my house too im afraid, It started to make my hair hard and my scalp really itchy, Ive been using Uniq one leave in hair mask on and off for over a year and it never lets me down

I didn't find Moroccan Oil very good either, I found it weighed down my hair and made it greasy and nourishment wise it definitely did nothing. In terms of masks for dry hair like yours I'd try Kiehl's olive oil hair pack- it's super nourishing and also go to an Indian shop and get yourself a bottle of "mustard" oil. It's smelly but once a week put it through your hair from root to tip and sleep with it in overnight and wash out the next morning-it's miraculous. My hair used to be extremely dry and broken and I've been using Indian hair oils for almost 2 years and it's never been better! Orla x

Thanks so much for your honest review of these two products I haven't tried either and glad to have your opinion on them.

Have you tried Herbal Essences Beautiful Ends Intensive Mask? It works wonders for my dry hair and stops the ends going frizzy. Not only that but it smells AMAZING and its purse friendly too :)

umberto giannini's volumising root spray does NOTHING as I recently discovered so I feel your hair pain.

It's such a bummer when products don't live up to expectations. I'm surprised the Moroccanoil didn't work for you. I swear by it.

What a bummer! I hear Kerastase is great as well as Moroccan oil. I was going to try a moroccan oil conditioner in a few months and hope that works!

I have an Umberto Giannini mask that I use weekly which leaves my hair so smooth, but the Tresemme Split Remedy range doesn't seem to help my split ends at all, I'm raging! x

Luckily nothing has lately let me down! Moroccan oil has been on my list for a while now because of the raves by other bloggers, but I might reconsider now :D

Ems I don't know about Elvive, but I have the same sensation about Moroccan oil. I'm afraid it might be the oil formula, because I tried the mask by Moroccan oil and it worked awesomely on my dry and damaged ends. Let me know how you get on with the next products you try!love, Coco

Hi!
I am a big fan of Kerastase.I loved the Moroccan ol for the first couple of months that I used it buy found after a couple of months it stopped working and now doesn't really add anything extra. I am hoping to find a new leave in conditioner at the moment too - any suggestions?

P.S. I have just started a new facebook page and blog - please step by like and enjoy :)

I love most of the L'oreal deep conditioners including this one. I still can't get the hang of hair oils though!
