Nu Essence
Beauty Salon has been on my radar for a while.
Located on South Anne Street, just off Grafton Street - the main shopping street in Dublin - it's the perfect spot to squeeze
in a spot of pampering as part of a gruelling retail therapy regime!
I dropped in
ahead of an event filled weekend to try out their two week manicure and spray
tan, using the Irish natural and organic brand, Karora. This was only my second ever spray tan so I was a little nervous but the lovely Fiona put me quickly
at ease. She talked me through everything,
put my fears at rest and displayed the most meticulous attention to
detail that confirmed I was in completely expert hands.
And speaking
of hands, mine were transformed with a very thorough manicure and a pretty, peachy
nude shade - very Chanel SS13, don'tchaknow -
from Jessica's Geleration line. Like Shellac (which is also on offer at
the salon), this is a two week manicure with layers of gel, which are set onto
the nail with a UV lamp. The result? My
nails looked glossy, understated and chic - I was very impressed!
The facilities
impressed me, too. Unlike other salons, Nu Essence have a dedicated tanning
chamber - a welcome change to a pop-up plastic tent. Plus, the salon is spread
over several floors of a lovely old Georgian building, giving it plenty of
character and charm.
I walked out
completely transformed - groomed, bronzed and feeling considerably more
glamorous than when I'd arrived. Sadly I also walked out into the bucketing
Irish rain but, in a final flourish of exceptional customer service, the lovely
receptionist had nipped out to grab me a cab.
And the real
test of the treatments? Over a week later, both the tan and my mani are going
strong. There's no patchiness or streakiness in my colour and my nails are a
chip free zone.
Fluff and
Fripperies was a guest of Nu Essence but a two week manicure is normally priced
from €30, and a spray tan from €18. It's also worth keeping an eye on their website
and Facebook page, where special offers are posted regularly.
Are you a
fan of either of these treatments?

You look gorgeous Emma! Great post, Karora is one of my faves! xo
I can attest that you looked positively bronzed and gorgeous after your tan ;) I love Nu Essence, they're all so friendly in there!
You look gorgeous Emma! I'm also in the market for a good nude color so I should do some retail (beauty) therapy and look for that!

You look absolutely stunning!
Also I love the design (how in the world did I miss that?!)
Will raid your archives tonight for budget-friendly and no-breakout-causing foundation that´s cheapie. I used Healthy Mix Foundation from the drugstore but the brand isn´t available over here anymore. So I think about checking out Maybelline or FIT. Ideas are very welcome!
xo
Hey Golden Girl!!!Your tan looks amazing Emma!

You look stunning doll, love the glow!! Really suits you to have a tan :)) I love going for a beauty treatment, although I don't need a tan since I come with one, but I sometimes still get a tan as it makes me feel I've been on holiday to somewhere hot instead of out in the rain or grey skies, haha! You look stunning, love the blog layout as well, so nice!! Have a great week doll xox
Very reasonable prices! Just checked out the website, very interested in their spray tan for paler skin.
Absolute stunner, you look amazing tanned! Also the nails are beautiful
I am so envious of your tan and your hair looks great. Love the new blog layout.
The tan looks great and so does your new blog look! Love it!
i looove those gel manicures, they are awesome!
You look great!! I never had a fake tan but looking at you I think about getting one too. It's also a very reasonable price but I don't think I'll find such a nice salon with those prices and that good quality here in Vienna.
Kisses,
Simone
Love the nails and your hair. Did you straighten it yourself or get it done? My hair is cut and coloured in exactly the same style and it never looks like that when I straighten it.
You look like you've just come back from holidays Emma! So gorgeous! :)
I got a shock when I clicked on this post to see your fantastic new layout! Really love it, the colours are so fresh!

Aw thanks so much for all the comments guys, about the tan and about the new layout. Delighted you like it! And I think I'm developing a bit of an addiction to having a tan...
Martie, two budget foundations I would really recommend are Max Factor's Facefinity and Rimmel's Match Perfection - I reviewed both on beaut.ie if you want to take a look over there!
Oh and Yvonne, there is no way I could get my hair to look like that myself, I am rubbish with a hairdryer and just leave it to dry normally. No that was done by a local hairdresser! xo
Hi, Emma, thanks for stopping by! I am addicted to gel nails, the best thing! You look great!
