Gillette Fusion Proglide Styler; Clarins Men Exfoliating Cleanser; Dove Men Dove Men+Care Moisturiser: The Movember Review!

I took advantage of my mate Deryck's valiant charitable efforts this year to make him test out and review a few male grooming products for the site. Here's what he made of his new grooming regime...

This year I decided to get involved in Movember and grow a…questionable moustache, in order to raise funds for prostate cancer. And, to my delight, I’ve been given the opportunity to try out a few new products to help me add a bit of style to my 'tash and keep my face looking fresh!

Five Handbags That Every Woman Should Own!

I am very hard on handbags. I tend to buy one, overstuff it, throw it around, drag it with me everywhere and generally, wear it to death. Eventually something breaks or frays or tarnishes, I buy a new one, and the cycle starts again. I don't own a single designer bag - mostly because the only one I want, the classic Chanel 2.55 (black with gold hardware, in case Santa is listening) is about three and a half grand - so I always buy from the highstreet, and normally in a panic.

I have decided it is time to build up my handbag wardrobe and have been giving a bit of thought to the types of basic bags that every woman should own. Here's what I've come up with so far:

Calling all Blondes...it's Competition Time, With Touch of Silver!

Touch of Silver Hair Range

Earlier today I shared a beautiful little video featuring Marilyn Monroe (if you haven't watched it, go, go!) and now, in honour of the lady herself, here's a little competition for all you blonde bombshells out there.

Watch: Marilyn & Chanel No. 5

This beautiful little film actually gave me goose bumps.

Spray Tanning: The Final Frontier! Decadence Tan Review, At Bushras

Decadence Tan

Just before I headed off on holiday last month I broke my final beauty frontier: the spray tan! Despite being absolutely terrified of patchiness, turning orange and smelling of biscuits for the rest of my life, I decided it was time I conquered my fears, and accepted the kind offer of a Decadence Spray Tan.

Make Up Shake Up #10; This Week's Beauty Bag, Feat. Chanel, Clinique, Dr Jart, Maybelline, Max Factor

I have some lovely new products to break open this week and have a play with, so you can expect to see my favourites pop up in reviews over the next few weeks! If there's anything you're specifically interested in hearing about, just leave me a comment and let me know. Here's what will be featuring in this week's makeup bag:

Purple Lipsticks: Four Favourites for Fall (ok, ok, Autumn!)

Purple skies in Autumn/Fall

I've been musing lately about why it is that purple and autumn seem to fit so well. Partly it's because purple is the colour of plums and berries and all of those lovely seasonal fruits. Also, I think, autumn is quite a grown up season when it comes to fashion and beauty - it's less about girlishness and more about serious sophistication. And of all the colours, purple seems  the most grown up to me.

And finally, I realised as I snapped this picture outside my apartment at some ungodly hour the other morning, it's something to do with the light - we see more purples and violets in the skies at this time of year than at any other.

For whatever reason, I've been inspired to wear it on my lips a lot over recent weeks - here are four of my current purple passions!

Christmas Gift Guide For Men - Straight From The Horse's Mouth!

Mr Fluff's back with a few ideas for treating the man in your life this Christmas! Hope you get a few ideas, and if you've any other suggestions for presents for men - always the trickiest to buy for - do leave them in the comments.

Accessorising isn’t something generally associated with us men folk but in reality we actually do it all the time, perhaps without realising it.  Belts, watches, wallets, cufflinks, the list goes on.  So, call it what you like, here’s a few accessories that have caught my eye recently and Mrs Fluff should note that these picks all make excellent Christmas gifts for that special gentleman in your life…

Bombshell by Katya Wildman: My Latest Obsession!

Designer Katya Wildman
Katya Wildman in her own (fabulous) design

Have you heard of the Bombshell dress? I first came across it here, where the bold bird print (that's it below!) first caught my eye. I soon realised that all the Bombshell dresses shared a similar 1950s aesthetic, with a sweetheart neck line and nipped in waist, so I did a little digging.

Black Friday Sale at The Body Shop!

Lovers of beauty and bargains, get ready to hotfoot it to The Body Shop for their Black Friday sale, which sees a massive 30% discount off all products today. This is a great chance to stock up on stocking fillers, Christmas presents or even a few wee treats to see you through the winter.  I’ve been wanting to try the Vitamin E mask for a while and this is the ideal chance – plus, I’ll be stocking up on the Camomile Gentle Eye Makeup Remover, which is one of my all-time faves. Who knows, a Christmas candle or two just might make their way into my basket, too.

What’s your favourite product from The Body Shop?

New Lasting Finish Matte by Kate Moss for Rimmel: #101 (Review, Pictures, Swatches, FOTD)

It seems like Kate’s second Rimmel line is an even bigger smash hit than the first. Everyone loves these lipsticks and yep, here’s another convert. The formula is one of the new breed of mattes – velvety, non-drying, creamy and with a bit of a sheen. Personally, I don’t care for the sweet, fruity scent, but for such exceptional performance and tiny €6.95 pricetag – cheaper yet in the airport, where I picked this up - I can definitely look past it.

WIN! Six Months Supply of L’Oreal Hair Expertise Products!

If your hair is calling out for some tender loving care then today’s prize could be just what the doctor ordered! One lucky winner of Fluff and Fripperies will walk away with a whopping six months supply of L’Oreal Hair Expertise products – including shampoos, conditioners, masques and serums.
I’m a big fan of this range – all products are silicone and sulphate free, and designed to be gentle on overprocessed hair. It’s broken into three categories - EverPure, for coloured hair, has oils of rosemary, juniper and mint, EverSleek includes sunflower extracts to combat frizz, and EverStrong contains oils of rosemary and juniper to help strengthen fragile hair.
If you’re resident in the Republic of Ireland and would like to get your hands on a six month supply of these lovely products, just follow the simple steps below. Best of luck everyone!

Dublin’s latest Style Club: The One!

The Style Club Salon on North Earl Street, Dublin

Ladies and gentlemen (ok, probably just ladies but if you’re reading boys, do say hello!) I have a momentous announcement to make. After years of searching I think I have finally found The One. No, not Mr Fluff, darling that he is, but something much more elusive: the Perfect Hairdressers!
When I was invited into Dublin’s newest Style Club on North Earl Street, Dublin 1, I was excited, but a teeny bit anxious. These design-led salons are bang up to the minute, feature cutting edge trends and pump out the latest tunes – would it all be a little too much?

Five Wardrobe Essentials: A Guest Post By Fash Mob’s Rosemary MacCabe

The idea of a capsule wardrobe is, for most of us - just that: an idea. Though we would love to have a wardrobe with 10 essential pieces and the odd accessory or two, anyone who loves fashion will be cursed with a magpie-like desire to possess everything that shines, sparkles and, let’s face it, looks like Rachel Bilson might wear it.

But the capsule wardrobe does exist - let’s take five pieces to start with, shall we?

Monday's Make Up Shake Up! Shopping My Stash #9, with Kiko Milano, Liz Earle, YSL, Lancome and Clarins

It's been insanely busy at Fluffy Towers, so I haven't been organised enough for one of these posts in a while. But I miss the discipline of trawling through my ever expanding collection of beauty bits to sort out what will be included in that week's makeup bag. Otherwise I tend to reach for the same things again and again, leaving piles of products unloved and ignored - and that just won't do.

These are the products I'll be working into this week's look:

Winter Wish List

Continuing on with a Friday Fashion kinda theme, I thought I’d share some of the items that are currently haunting my dreams. Santa, if you’re reading…

ONE A quick scout around a Whistles store in London recently brought me face-to-face with these blingin’ beauties, part of Lulu Frost's new collection for the brand. These are the Sandra ear-rings and with their variety of tones and shapes, they certainly make a statement. But they were €88 which I couldn’t bring myself to spend in the run-up to Christmas and so, sadly, I left them where I found them. For now.
TWO This panelled shift dress from Chloé is my latest obsession; I have been practically stalking it ever since I first spotted it on the Outnet here. The elegant shape and colour, the cosy wool blend, the pockets…oh, I could just kiss it, it’s so adorable. The good news? It’s 60% off. The bad? It’s still €798.40.

THREE I am also desperate to find a faux fur coat that doesn’t make me look like a miniature Yeti (believe me, that’s no exaggeration. I have sent back two to ASOS so far this winter which made me look like a small square furry abomination).  Perhaps this longline leopard number, €111.12 (and also from ASOS), will be The One?
FOUR I spotted these gorgeous Dubarry Galway boots on fellow Irish blogger Becky Dazzler, and have wanted them ever since. Don’t they look cosy? The brand has just opened its first flagship store at College Green in Dublin (next door to Abercrombie & Fitch) and are also available widely online (like here, where I’ve taken this picture from). This pair are Walnut; they’re also available in black – but they’re pricey at around €335.00.

FIVE Fashionable and functional, these tan leather Chupa gloves from Ted Baker are the very height of sophistimication and not too madly priced either at £59.99 from the Ted Baker website.
Like anything you see? And what are you lusting after this season?

Fall Fashion Favourites...or Autumn Accessories!

While I try to love all of my accessories equally, there are some that are more equal than the rest. Even these recent buys haven’t stopped me reaching for this same handful of favourites again and again in the past few weeks.

The ASOS bag was ordered, ooh, minutes after writing this post. I love its fluffy shearling ways and while it’s smaller than the mammoths I generally like to haul about with me, it’s also plenty big for the daily essentials.
And it might be classed as a neutral, but leopard print still packs a helluva punch.  This scarf was a Christmas present from last year and I have just about worn it to death. I’m keeping my eyes peeled for its replacement.

I also love this sequinned collar which I picked up in Topshop in London on a recent daytrip (which you can read about here). It gives every outfit a bit of a kick up the style ladder, and has breathed new life into some of my old wardrobe favourites.

Finally, along with my wedding and engagement rings, these two are rarely off my fingers. The YSL Arty ring (so loved by bloggers that it’s now referred to as ‘the bloggers' ring'!) was a gift from my mum and my sister and I adore the warm amber colour in the stone. As for the turquoise bevel ring, I bought it on sale from Astley Clarke (and told you all about it here).
What are your favorite fall fashion* accessories?

*Sssh, I know I'm not American, but the alliterative appeal was just too strong!

Voya Therapy: Ocean Facial Experience at Therese R, Rochestown Lodge & Spa

Voya display at reception
I’ve talked about Voya on several occasions on the blog before – this lovely organic beauty brand have revived the indigenous Irish tradition of seaweed bath houses and beauty products. Check out this post for more on the brand’s back story.

Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill Intense Silk Eyeshadow #28, Red Platine: Pics, Swatches, FOTD

When I showed you this Armani Eyes To Kill Intense Silk Eyeshadow in #24, I knew it wouldn’t be long till it had company! I was seriously impressed with the staying power, pigmentation and multidimensional shades of these cream/powder hybrids and my next investment was in shade #28 (Red Platine).

Today's Nails: Sally Hansen Big Money Gem Crush with Warrior from George at Asda!

Meet my current favourite nail look - a combination of a cheap-as-chips metallic I picked up for pennies in Asda, and my favourite shade from Sally Hansen’s new glitter range, Gem Crush.

As we head further and further into the dark depths of winter, I’ve been craving a little sparkle in my life. This combo has just the right amount of bling without being too in-your-face for the day-to-day.

The Asda polish is called Warrior and described as a quick dry nail varnish – I picked it up as the shade reminds me of Chanel’s Quartz, which I have oft admired but don’t yet own. It’s a touch warmer than Quartz and is a champagney/beige/taupe sorta shade that applies really smoothly and does actually dry quickly, as billed.

It’s also the perfect base for Sally Hansen Gem Crush in Big Money, a fine champagne/gold glitter with larger pieces of lilac glitter .  The bottle has been living on my desk in work and every so often its twinkly loveliness distracts me from the task at hand. I am very smitten with this shade, and its unique and unexpected colour combination.

The Sally Hansen Gem Crush polishes are €8.95 each; look for them in your local pharmacy or supermarket now. I can’t wait to check out Glitz Gal, a grey glitter, and Razzle Dazzle, a pink and silver glitter, from the range.

What are you loving on your nails right now?

WIN! €120 Dental Care Hamper from Oral-B!

I told you all about my tooth whitening experience earlier today but if that’s not for you, today’s prize could help you to achieve a smile that’s naturally white. To celebrate the launch of Oral-B 3D White Toothpaste and Oral-B TriZone power brushes, Fluff and Fripperies has a dental care hamper with selected Oral-B products to give away, worth €120!

Tooth Whitening: My Experience At The White House, Swords

My newfound love of orangey red lipstick has been encouraged in no small way by a recent visit to The White House Tooth Whitening Clinic. My gnashers have never been my finest feature and, as a former smoker and a current and enthusiastic red wine, tea and coffee drinker, I've always been pretty self conscious about my teeth.

Operating since 2008, the group has five clinics across
Ireland - in Swords, Dundrum, Belfast, Cork and Galway - with further plans to expand.  I headed along to the Swords clinic where I underwent two successive 18 minute laser treatments.

Mink Lash Extensions at Up To My Eyes: Review and Pictures

Up To My Eyes salon and, top left, Mink lashes waiting to be applied
Exactly five weeks ago today I was treated to a full set of Mink extensions at lash specialists Up To My Eyes. I’ve delayed my review so I could assess how the lashes wore, and how I felt about them as the weeks wore on.

Firstly, to those who may be concerned about the welfare of the furry little critters by the same name, Mink lashes have nothing whatsoever to do with actual minks. They’re made of a lightweight silk, and glued to your natural lashes.

WIN! Gorgeous Gok/Betty & Walter Vanity Cases and Body Products, from Boots!

I have two really lovely prizes up for grabs today which have been generously donated by Boots. You could be in with a chance to win EITHER a Gok Vanity Case and Trio of Loveliness (combined value €81) OR a Betty & Walter Vanity Case and Sumptuously Bitty Body Scrub and Body Butter (total value €71).

And don’t forget that every week, Boots is counting down to Christmas with their brilliant Boots ‘Star Gift of the Week’ offers, so keep an eye out every week for a brand new bargain. Every Friday, Boots are announcing their new Star Gift of the Week which will be on sale for better than half price. Make sure you're a fan of the Official Boots Ireland Facebook page to stay up to date with all the latest news and offers!

If you're resident in the Republic of Ireland and you fancy getting your hands on one of these gorgeous prizes, then just enter your details below. Good luck everyone!

Arran Aromatics and the Isle of Arran

Between the ages of 9 and 16 I lived in a small village on the West Coast of Scotland. Our house was beside the sea and overlooked the Isle of Arran, which is a mere 45 minute ferry journey away, and less than £10 for a return ticket. Despite that, I’ve visited the island a grand total of twice – once, aged about 11, and again just a couple of weeks ago.

Arran is beautiful and if you are ever in that part of the world I would urge you to go. It’s just 19 miles long and 10 miles wide but it has the most beautifully diverse landscape – think dramatic coastlines, rugged mountains and picturesque wee villages.  There’s even a castle, a brewery and a small cheese factory – now what else do you need?!

Clockwise from top left: on the ferry; Arran Aromatics products; Arran Aromatics factory; scenery; local produce (ale, cheese and bath products, my kinda place!)

The island is also home to Arran Aromatics – a lovely bath and body range you may have come across in TK Maxx, Debenhams or the bathrooms of the Malmaison hotels. But you may not have realised that the products are all made on this tiny little island as part of a family business that has been operating here since 1989.

We paid a little visit to the factory and shop, where I loitered for as long as Himself would let me. There I learned that the brand now produces more than 250 items  across 6 separate ranges – my favourites being the beautifully packaged Apothecary range and the uplifting Just Grapefruit product line (which I believe is being renamed Citrus Shores).

Our suitcases were already dangerously heavy so our purchasing was seriously limited. But Arran and Arran Aromatics will both be on our itinerary on our next Scottish trip, and I’ll definitely stock up then.
Have you tried anything from Arran Aromatics?
If you’re interested, you can buy Arran Aromatics from their web store - where you can often bag a bargain - or from Debenhams Ireland here

And psst! If you'd like to get your hands on some new bath and body products FOR FREE, then do check back here this afternoon for my latest giveaway.

Signs That Blogging Has Taken Over Your Life: Part 1

An email from Mr Fluff alerts me to a particularly hilarious installment of the Guardian’s Lost In Showbiz (if you read, isn’t it AMAZING? If you don’t, DO!). As a casual aside he mentions that the description of LiS’s pregnant wife was like Fluff and Fripperies with a blog deadline. Let me set the scene:

Shopping in Spain and Scotland: Fashion Finds From Zara, Sfera, H&M and Arran Aromatics!

I recently spent a week in Spain and then a week in Scotland chilling out with my family and in-laws, and it was just what the doctor ordered. It's always a bit of a struggle getting back into the daily grind but I'm consoling myself with these pretty purchases I picked up on my travels.

WIN! Human+Kind Skincare Worth Just Under €100! [NOW CLOSED]

Best Skincare For Men: Bulldog, Kiehls, Korres

Mr Fluff puts his best face forward to bring you the best male grooming products on the market. With Christmas fast approaching this might give you a few ideas for the men in your life!

Week day mornings are rarely something to be looked forward to and no matter how I dress it up, a new moisturiser isn’t going to change that.  But, along with a few other products, it might make them that little bit more bearable so I decided to try out some of the newer ranges of men’s skincare lines on the market.

October Favourites From YSL, Armani and Kiko Milano

I would normally include more than three products in a monthly favourites post. But  these beauty bits from Armani, YSL and Kiko Milano have been rocking my socks SO MUCH throughout October that I thought feck it, they deserve their time in the spotlight!
