Super Stylish Sunglasses: A Guest Post by Mr Fluff

I'm rather taken with this blogging lark so I'm back with another guest post, this time on my favourite accessory ever - sunglasses! A lot of sunglasses are unisex and I happen to think these styles look just as good on both sexes.

Now you may think that once the summer months are over and the nights start drawing in then it’s time to put those sunglasses away and bring out the ski goggles.  Well, you think wrong!

La Roche Posay Hydraphase Intense Serum, Hydreane BB Cream: Review, Pictures, FOTD

So as I was saying in U Magazine (!), I'm a big fan of French pharmacy brand La Roche Posay. When it comes to skincare they really know their stuff: whatever your area of concern, they're bound to have a product to treat it - for an overview of their main lines, check out this piece I wrote over on beaut.ie.

Prices are affordable, too, ranging from €4 for a lip balm up to €35 for a serum, with most products coming in around the €20 mark. So taking all that into account, it's no surprise that I've been loving this latest duo of products I was sent by the brand.

Fluff and Fripperies in U Magazine!

There was much excitement here at Fluffy Towers when the latest issue of U Magazine hit the news shelves - and we're in it!

As part of a Beauty Essentials feature (page 66, yo!), you can read all about my top ten must-have products and tools of all time.

Max Factor 2000 Calorie Mascara Collection

Did you know that Max Factor's 2000 Calorie Dramatic Volume mascara is 20 years old?!? Nope, me either. This product has been around so long and has so many devoted fans that I'm frankly amazed I haven't tried it before now. It's been given a bit of a makeover, as have the other two products in the 2000 Calorie collection. For the past couple of weeks I've been using all three, courtesy of the brand, to try and figure out what the fuss is about.

Ciate Paint Pots in Superficial, Starlet - and giveaway winner announced!

I promised you a look at the Ciate Paint Pots I was sent by Prudence magazine and here we are - feast on your eyes on these little lovelies!

Housed in the signature Ciate bottles - tall, elegant and adorned with a jaunty little bow - these shades are both absolute stunners. They apply and wear really well too, which has been my general experience with the brand.

Nab an award winning Korres Wild Rose Lip Butter, free from beautyboutique.ie!

Some products are totally worth the hype and I've been singing the praises of the Korres lip butters to anyone who'll listen (check out my review of these gorgeous tinted lip balms here). If you haven't tried them yet, here's the perfect excuse to treat yourself.

Autumn Wish List

Autumn Wish List

So I can't help suspecting a few hints were being dropped in this guest post by my other half. And as two can play at that game I have idled away some time this weekend picking out some new season favourites of my own. My bank balance being what it is, they probably won't be coming home with me anytime soon...unless of course, a certain somebody felt like picking me up a wee treat or two on payday. Ahem.

1. Marc by Marc Jacobs light grey Geraldine sweater, £234.99 from Jules B
This loose cable knit jumper looks so cosy and will be perfect for the changing weather

2. Shearling handbag, €35.54 from ASOS
How fabulous is the shearling detail on this leather-look handbag from ASOS?

3. Adele studded boots, £189.95 by Sam Edelman
I love Sam Edelman's shoes and bags and can see myself living in these throughout autumn and winter

4. Hello! Skinny Jeans, €175 from The White Door
I'm not a jeans person but I've been intrigued by these ones ever since they came to The White Door in Dublin; they promise to make you look slimmer and flatter to figure, so what's not to like?!

5. Evil Eye Ring, £145 from Astley Clarke
Gorgeous diamond pave evil eye ring in 18 carat yellow gold vermeil on sterling silver, with bezel set turquoise. Love!

What are you hankering after this autumn?

Nioxin Treatment at Peter Mark, for thicker, fuller hair

My friend and I were lamenting recently that our hair has lost its oomph. Mine is noticeably thinner than when I was younger – I’m just lucky I had a helluva lot to start off with. But the Nioxin treatment at Peter Mark promised to help restore my mane to its former glory, so I was all over that like …well, like a beauty blogger on a brand new treatment, really.

Marks & Spencer Autumn Winter 2012 Collection

I've mentioned before that I'm always pleasantly surprised by the Marks & Spencer fashion collections, especially the Autograph and Limited Collections - where I've bought several of the most worn items in my wardrobe.

Giorgio Armani Eyes To Kill Silk Eye Shadow 24, Rouge D'Armani Beige 111: Review, Swatches, FOTD!

If I was only allowed to wear one eyeshadow for the rest of my life, this would be it. That sentence alone should tell you everything you need to know about Giorgio Armani's Eyes To Kill silk eyeshadow in number 24.  But I'm in the first flush of love and there's plenty more I want to rave on about,  including the perfect nude lippie for autumn, so read on!

Men's Fashion: Top Picks for Autumn, from Mr. Fluff!

Back in the day (more days than I care to remember) Autumn in general was nothing to be looked forward to, what with it signalling being back to school, dark evenings and costume dramas. However, since unlike now our childhood summers were always sunny, it did at least tend to mean a couple of new outfits for yours truly.

Nowadays I have buy my own clothes but this comes with the advantage of being able to pick them myself - so the shorts, sandals and duffel coat combo is out (for now!) and I’ll be leaning towards some of these more up to date pieces to take me into the months ahead:

1. Slim jeans by Nudie from ASOS, €156.39

2. Carharrt Finest Sweater, £54.99 from Red Square Clothing

3. Pretty Green field jacket £194.99 from Red Square Clothing

4. Cheap Monday Loose Pocket shirt €56.87 from ASOS

5.  Shore Leave Beige Suede Blue Crepe Chukka Boots, €99, Urban Outfitters

Ah, the September issue. Thanks to the 2009 Vogue documentary we all know it’s the single most important issue for a magazine. And that’s even more true this year for savvy Irish fash mag, Prudence – their September/October 2012 issue is on stands now and reveals a brand spanking new look.

Bargain Alert: New Season Launch Event At Debenhams, Today Only!

Get your skates on gals because Debenhams are holding a one day savings spectacular with up to 50% off Designers at Debenhams, today and today only. I applaud the idea behind the sale – discounting new stock at the beginning of the season, and not at the end, so you can stock up on your autumn essentials.

Can’t make it to the store? Well don’t fret because they’re also offering up to 25% off new season lines until Sunday, September 16th, with 10% off fragrance and cosmetics.
The New Season Event is happening across all Debenhams stores (including those outside Ireland) and the savings can also be found online. I’m on the hunt for a chunky wine cardigan and a pair of brown boots so I’ll definitely be popping my head in.

Cliniqe High Impact Extreme Volume Mascara: Review and Pictures

Ok, so, despite owning a bajillion types of mascara and understanding the concept of a wardrobe of products for different occasions, I will never give up the search for The One. You know, that one perfect mascara that can do EVERYTHING, from length to curl and volume with no smudging, flakes or clumps. Ideally I also want to layer it, so I can ramp it up from day to night.

Look Book: Anna Dello Russo for H&M

The wait is over – H&M have released the lookbook for Anna Dello Russo’s collection, launching on October 4th. (I wrote about the collectio here, and here). Margareta van den Bosch, creative adviser for H&M, told WWD: “There is something feisty and over the top in this collection”.

A|wear AW12 Fashion Show

From the moment the gorgeously designed invitation landed at Fluffy Towers, you could tell the A|wear 2012 fashion show was going to be a fabulous event. Taking place recently at Smock Alley Theatre in Dublin, it was a real credit to the organisers: the production and running of the event were second to none.

Isadora Makeup: Review of Rosebud Glow Stick, Metallic Eye Pencil, Peach Melba Cream Gloss Stylo, 16 Hrs Active Moist Make Up

Swedish beauty brand Isadora has really impressed me of late. The line is usually found in pharmacies or the occasional department store and includes some real gems – I’ve previously tried and liked the matte bronzer, Jelly Kiss lipstick and their Fine Liner Stylo (which is a felt tip pen eyeliner to you and me).

Huzzah! It’s Lancôme Bonus Time!

Lancome Bonus Time Gift

We’ve seen so much loveliness from Lancôme over recent months. Their autumn beauty collection is one of my favourites of the new season – check out the eye palette in my August favourites post. Their recent perfume launch, La Vie Est Belle, was one of the most popular in recent memory and the Rouge In Love lipstick line is entirely fabulous.
You’d be forgiven for wanting to try a little bit of everything and hey, look, it’s like Lancôme are reading our minds! Because their latest gift with purchase, exclusively at Brown Thomas, is one of the best I’ve seen in a long, long time.

You Need A Fashion Shower: Anna Dello Russo’s song and dance for H&M

It seemed like forever away when I first wrote about it, but Anna Dello Russo’s new accessories collection for H&M edges ever closer. To promote the launch on October 4th, the brand will be releasing Fashion Shower, an electro pop ditty and video featuring the eccentric editor.
You might already have seen this clip but the extended version is being released by H&M this week. I’m not entirely sure what to make of it, to be honest. I was close to cringing, but I don’t think I ever quite got there. It could be just the right side of crazy to be fabulous.
But just what do all these fashion types have against comfort?! I like to be comfortable. People, there is nothing wrong with comfortable.
Watch it and tell me what you think. Do you need a fashion shower?

Liz Earle Powder Blush in Peony 07; Natural Glow Bronzer: Review and Pics

Liz Earle is one of my favourite skincare brands – their Cleanse and Polish has featured on the blog a time or two, and is one of those beauty products that I just can’t bear to be without.
The brand branched out into makeup this spring and the beauty bits I’ve tried have been similarly impressive. Made with the same botanical ingredients as the skincare line, these  are ridiculously easy to wear and apply. There are no eyeshadows or lipsticks (yet - more on that in a bit!) but cheeks, lips, mascara, eye pencils, brushes and base products are all well covered.

August Favourites on Fluff and Fripperies: Lancome, Vichy, Avon, Chanel, LUSH

This has been an amazing month for new products what with the roll out of the autumn collections and some great new perfume and skincare launches, too. But when I thought about the products I have been using and loving on a near daily basis over the past month it became a little easier to narrow it down.  Here’s what’s really been doing it for me throughout August.
