Shocking confession time - would you believe, until these two items dropped through the letterbox at
, I had never tried a single Inglot product? I know, it amazes me too. Fluffy Towers
YSL Contemporary Amazon: Review and Pictures of Rouge Pur Couture Mat in Orange Imagine; Dare To Glow Silky Highlighting Veil in Fatal Red
There are very few things in life as pleasurable as a good lipstick. And this one here, YSL's Rouge Pur Couture Mat in Orange Imagine, is a very good lipstick indeed. It's one of six modern matte shades that are new for Autumn, as part of the brand's Contemporary Amazon collection - and it's absolutely gorgeous.
New! No 7 Foundation Match Made Service (AKA when Fluff and Fripperies Met The Fabulous Lisa Eldridge!)
So I gave you a hint in yesterday's post and today I'm spilling the beans on what Boots No 7 have been up to for the past three years, under the guidance of their supremely talented creative director, Lisa Eldridge.
When I met Lisa Eldridge a few weeks ago she was wearing the most amazing lip print dress. She was in town to tell us about the latest beauty innovation from Boots No 7, and I'll fill you in on all the details later this week. For now let me just tell you that, as gorgeous as she is in her videos, she's about a million times more gorgeous in real life - and just as gracious and charming as I'd hoped.
“[Blood and semen] is in the perfume, but it doesn’t smell like it. You just get sort of the after feeling of sex from the semen, and the blood is sort of primal. And the blood was taken from my own blood sample, so it’s like a sense of having me on your skin.”
Just launched this month, L’Occitane's Bonne Mere - named after a French saying, expressing kindness - is a gentle, family orientated range. The products come in two varieties, milk or honey, and I was lucky enough to receive one of each - the gentle cream in milk, and the honey body wash.
M&S Autograph Beauty Range Review: Ultimate Wear Nail Colour in City Grey; Pure Colour Mono Eyeshadow in Mushroom
Marks and Spencer's Autograph clothing range has lots of fans - myself included - but did you know the range extends to beauty, too? When I came across the inviting looking stand at the
Grafton Street store I couldn't resist picking up a couple of bits to try out. I know, I know - I'm not meant to be buying new things, but it's all for the good of the blog! At least that's my excuse, and I'm sticking to it...
Urban Decay have extended the Naked franchise with their new liquid foundation, boasting a weightless, oil-free formula for a flawless finish. A specially designed Good Karma Optical Blurring Brush joins it on counter; I’ve had both to play about with for the past couple of weeks, courtesy of the brand.
NARS were recently in town to talk us through the new collection for Autumn 2012. It’s a beauty - an edgy, modern edit centred around smoky jewel shades or icy metallics for eyes, richly shaded lips and cool grey nails.
It's a pared down make up bag this week because, even for a beauty blogger, I've been carrying around a ridiculous amount of products. Last week my bag was so heavy I struggled to lift it and on emptying it out, discovered three bottles of perfume, a tub of hair mask, four styling products and a shameful eight lipsticks - as well as that week's make up bag. No wonder my shoulders ache! So let's take a look at this week's slimmed down products.
Green tea is having a moment. I realised this the other night as I was enjoying a cup of it with lemon, sent to me by the lovely folk at Barry’s (you can check the range out here). We’ve known for ages that drinking the stuff is good for us – the Chinese use it to treat everything from depression to tooth decay – but now it’s popping up in skincare, makeup and fragrance , too. Thanks to its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, it both soothes the skin and helps fight the signs of aging. Definitely the ingredient du jour!
I had mixed feelings when L’Occitane’s volumising hair products landed here at Fluffy Towers. On the one hand I was happy because they sound like amazing products. But I was also sad: they’re for fine to normal hair, and I knew I’d have to pass them on to someone with that hair type. Step up my lovely co-worker, Emily…
I've written about Dutch beauty brand Ellis Faas on the blog before (see here and here) and each time, people seem fascinated. And hey, no wonder. These are gorgeous, unique and innovative products that we don't hear too much about, so I'm happy to help spread the word.
Are all the new fragrance launches starting to smell very, very similar to you? Well, with the launch of Coco Noir, the third fragrance in the
Make Up Shake Up! Shopping my stash #7 - plus, does anyone want to do an international makeup swap?!?
Dior Golden Jungle Collection: Photos and Swatches of Dior Vernis in Amazonia, Bengale; Dior Addict Wild, Daring
How luxe and elegant is this promo shot for Dior's Autumn Collection, Golden Jungle? As a big fan of smoky khaki shades, I couldn't wait to clap eyes on this collection.
The Golden Jungle and 5-Couleurs eyeshadow palette are the stars of the show here - they both contain a selection of matte and shimmer shadows in browns, golds and khakis. I'll be visiting them ASAP at my nearest Dior counter.
If you remember this post, I think you’ll see where this is going…! Shortly after writing it, I made my first purchase from the online jewellery boutique, Astley Clarke - and I have to say I’m impressed. I’m in love with my new ring and it arrived quickly, beautifully packaged in this sophisticated little box.
A nice chunky lip pencil is a lot of fun to use. I like 'em best when they're cute, glossy and self sharpening. Until recently I only knew of Clinique's Chubby Sticks (this one's my fave), but Revlon's Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains and Urban Decay's Super Saturated pencils are also on my list. But they can wait a while, because this Fat Lip Pencil from Laqa & Co has completely stolen my heart.
Welcome to week 6 of the Make Up Shake Up series, where I give you a sneak peek into the contents of my weekly make up bag. Things are a bit different this week as most of the products I'll be using are from just one brand, the absolutely fabulous Ellis Faas.
I've been making an effort lately to rediscover bits and pieces in my own make up collection and use up the products I actually own, instead of constantly pining for the latest releases. That said, I have been in a few situations recently that were just irresistible - like duty free, a cosmetics outlet store, and the discovery of cut price Revlon lip butters in Superdrug! So here are a few bits and pieces I've picked up over the past few weeks...
About a year ago I went away on holiday with perfectly normal skin, and came back with a chin full of blocked pores and bumps under the skin. No amount of specialised expensive skincare or fancy facials cured it completely, so recently I bit the bullet and made an appointment with the Skin Deep service at The Hospital Group.
Nails Inc - Nailing The Neon Trend! Ladbroke, Kensington Park Road Neon Nail Polish; Nail Jewellery in Princes Arcade
By far the easiest way to channel this summer’s neon trend is with a bright flash of colour on your nails. And we’ve been so disappointed with the weather in Ireland this year that, frankly, we need a little cheering up. So I've forced myself to put away my neutrals and nudes, and to sport something just a little bit more cheerful instead...
Lancôme's latest fragrance, La Vie Est Belle, launches in Brown Thomas today. Fans of warm, sweet, floral scents will love this, with its notes of iris, orange blossom and jasmine, blended with tonka bean, praline and vanilla.
Based on the concept of simple, natural beauty and breaking free from convention, the scent was three years in the making and contains just 63 ingredients – far fewer than most perfumes on the market.
The bottle is lovely - taken from a 1949 design, it features a ‘crystal smile’ and grey organza ribbon which, tied jauntily around the bottle neck, represents freedom.
La Vie Est Belle is priced from €47 for 30ml. It’s available at Brown Thomas now, and nationwide from September 1st.
I was a bit worried when I started these monthly favourites posts (check out the others here and here). What if nothing stood out or impressed me in any given month? What if I didn’t try anything new, or rediscover any old favourites? Well, all I can say to that is, HA! With the amount of love in my heart for toiletries, make up, hair care and all things beauty, I can’t see that happening anytime soon. So without further ado, let me introduce the five stand-out products of July…
