Made in Ireland: Pixy Natural Skincare

Today, I'm delighted to help spread the word about another fabulous Irish brand. PIXY is Ireland’s answer to LUSH –  a high quality, fun and natural skincare range. All products are made from pure natural ingredients and handcrafted in Ireland. They're rich in natural goodies like unrefined shea and cocoa butters, healing vitamin E and a range of essential oils. The products are fragrant, colourful and fun, but gentle and effective on your skin at the same time.

Make Up Shake Up! Shopping my stash #5, with Clinique, Eyeko, ARTDECO, Isadora, Clarins!

Here we are with the 5th instalment of the Make Up Shake Up series, where each week I have a rummage through my collection and put together the things I'll be using that week. The idea is that I'll use more of the pieces that I own and hopefully, won't be as tempted to continually buy more. It should also stop me falling into a pattern, where I just use the same handful of products again and again.  Here's what's in this week's bag.

Chanelling Daisy, at A|wear

Sequin Peplum Blouse €50 / Pleated Detail Skirt €50 / Embroidered Clutch €25

With Baz Luhrmann’s adaptation of The Great Gatsby to look forward to, the 1920s trend is going nowhere fast. This pretty jazz age ensemble, from Irish highstreet faves A|wear, is the perfect way to channel Daisy's wardrobe.
This is one of the shots from their AW12 look book and it’s very pretty indeed. The peplum top and slightly A-line skirt also look a little more forgiving than many other 20s inspired pieces

You can buy A|wear online (they ship worldwide), or via ASOS (where, oddly enough, they don’t seem to deliver to Ireland. Peculiar, that.)

Holiday Space Savers: Clever Travel Kits from Benefit, Burts Bees, Dr Hauschka

I'm a big fan of travel kits for cosmetics and toiletries - they're fabulous for saving space in your suitcase while still allowing you to bring a wide range of sample size products.  And even if you're not going on holiday anytime soon, travel packs are a great introduction to a brand's offerings, allowing you to try out a few items before committing to a full sized purchase. Here are three great examples that recently arrived here at Fluffy Towers.

LUSH Emotional Brilliance - Pics and Swatches of Glamorous, Power, Focus, Happiness, In Charge

Squee! The new make up line from LUSH hits stores this week! I was a big fan of their previous range, B Never Too Busy To Be Beautiful, which came in the most gorgeous bejewelled packaging, and have mourned it since its demise. So I’ve been excited about this new range since the day I first heard it was coming down the line.

Review of Clarins 3 Dot Liner - and meet Allsun!

Meet Allsun - a great friend who puts me to shame with her knowledge of beauty bits I know nothing about. The stuff that scares me - like fake tan, false lashes and extensions - is second nature to her, and she's offered to share what she knows with all of us here on the site. I'm so excited that Allsun will be making a regular appearance on Fluff and Fripperies, and to kick things off, she's talking to us today about one of her favourite new autumn releases. Take it away Ally!

Trying To Put A Ring On It

I've been watching a lot of Deadwood recently. Engaging as this Wild West drama is, I find myself frequently distracted - by Alma Garrett's gorgeous jewelled rings. Her character is an upper class lady and my, does she have nice baubles. She wears them on her forefingers and so, I have determined, will I. Here are three I'm considering...

Sharing is caring: Karl Lagerfeld for Shu Uemura

I’m loving this cute little teaser video for Karl Lagerfeld’s upcoming collaboration with Shu Uemura. The cartoon mascot, ‘Mon Shu Girl’, is based on Karl’s sketch created with make up from the brand – apparently, he commonly uses this in his designs. As reported on WWD, the collection launches for Christmas – check out the video for a preview of what will be on offer.

Lana Del Rey for H&M - do we like?

So this week Lana Del Rey was confirmed as the new face of H&M. It’s a clever move by the brand, and comes hot on the heels of their recent Anna Dello Russo announcement.
But what do we think of this image for the autumn/winter campaign? Me, I like the nails, I like the clothes, especially that fuzzy angora jumper, and I like those ear-rings…but I kinda hate that sulky expression on Lana’s face. Like, a lot. Does anyone else think she looks like a huffy platypus? No? Just me?
What do you make of it? Are you a fan of Ms Del Rey in general?

OH AND PSSSST!!! You might wanna check back later - I have a lovely wee Friday treat in store for you this afternoon. It's a good 'un!

Treatment Tales: Danné Medi Pedi at Carter Beauty, Blackrock

For a while now I have been on the hunt for something I wasn’t sure really existed – a foot treatment to remove the dry skin on my feet, and include a really good foot massage.
Recently I threw it out on Twitter, where there was consensus that for dry, hard or calloused skin, a Danné medi pedi is your only man. But what about an aul’ foot rub? Sadly, it seemed that ne’er the twain would meet.

Beyond The Lita - My Jeffrey Campbell Wishlist!

Leopard print Lita, £120

At a recent bloggers’ event I clocked the gorgeous Emma Waldron in a pair of studded Litas that I’ve not been able to get out of my head ever since. So I hold her entirely to blame for my creeping around the internet, drooling over pictures of Jeffrey Campbell footwear.

FACE Atelier Ultra Foundation - Review, Photos, FOTD

Want to know what other products I'm wearing here? It's all laid out for you in this post.

There is nothing more tempting than the prospect of faking your way to fabulous skin. Unless you are one of those very lucky people who already have fabulous skin - in which case, please leave; you don't need the extra help!

For the rest of us, a good foundation is like finding the holy grail. I'm ever excited about trying something new, and this one excited me more than most. FACE Atelier Ultra Foundation is a cult product, loved by celebrities and beauty insiders for its lightweight but highly pigmented ways.

Make Up Shake Up! Shopping my stash #3, with Clarins, MAC, Revlon, Clinique, Louise Young and Creme De La Mer!

This is week three of the Make Up Shake Up series - see how it started, here.  Keep reading to see what beauty products are in this week's make up bag!

Incoming! The Body Shop to launch All-In-One BB Cream

I love trying out new BB creams (check out my current faves) - so this news from The Body Shop has me all hot under the collar. They’re adding an All-In-One BB Cream to their make up line, and while I’ve yet to clap eyes on it, on paper it sounds like a good ‘un!

A lightweight formula, 24 hour hydration and colour-adapting technology are what’s promised for this skincare/make up hybrid.

No launch or price info yet but I'll share more when I have it.

Are you on the BB bandwagon?

One Day In London, In Pictures!

Tired in the taxi at the crack of dawn

But cheered up by a little airport shopping

Coffee in Allan's Patisserie after my meeting

A wander through Grosvenor Park in the sunshine

Before cutting through Hyde Park

The Hyde Park deck chairs were tempting...

... and so was a Pimms outside the Serpentine Bar & Kitchen

Overlooking the banks of the Serpentine

Got very jealous of the crowds buying Chanel handbags in Harrods

But cheered myself with a visit to Laduree for lunch

The Laduree house salad - with a bellini!

And a butterfly cake with coffee

Delicious, but pricy - just as well I was heading back to Dublin straight after.

WIN! 2 x Ultimate Festival Survival Kit, with Opticrom Allergy Eye Drops (Ireland only) [Now Closed]

Last year, along with some fellow beauty bloggers, I shared my festival essentials on beaut.ie. It makes interesting reading, and here’s one more essential to add to the list – Opticrom Allergy Eye Drops. Few things are as frustrating as irritated eyes and these babies soothe sore, itchy, watery or puffy eyes in as little as two minutes.

MAC Heavenly Creature Collection: Solar Ray Mineralize Blush, Celestial Kiss Cremesheen Glass Review, Photos, Swatches

MAC’s Heavenly Creature collection has just landed and is only available till the end of August - so I urge you to check it out soon! It’s a really pretty collection featuring nine shimmery Mineralize eye shadows (€20.50), four each of the Mineralize Skinfinishes (€28.50) and blushes (€23), along with five lippies (€17.50), five shades of Cremesheen Glass gloss (€20) and the turbo-charged False Lashes Mascara (€23).

Wish List: Three Maxi Dresses To See Out The Summer In Style

Biba high neck pleated maxi - this comes in coral, as shown, or teal - perfect for a summer wedding! This is £189.00 (prices are in sterling on the site).

It's high time I had a wardrobe clearout, so this weekend I locked myself away to get on with the job in hand. (And to escape the tennis - am I the only human being on the planet who couldn't care less?) I'm not sure how it happened, but somehow very little cleaning was achieved - though I did get very acquainted with the beautiful maxi dresses on the House of Fraser website. Don't judge me -  there's a sale on, don'tchaknow.

For me, maxi dresses are the epitome of easy summer dressing - they're comfortable, flattering, don't require too much thought and can be dressed up or down, for any occasion. Here are a few that caught my eye - they've given me an incentive to get on with that clearout, if only to make them some room!

This Hobbs Perevil maxi dress is seriously tempting - I get such a 90s nostalgia kick from it! It'll look as good now with sandals as it will with boots and a chunky cardie as the weather turns. It's £49.00, down from £99.00.
Beach to bar dressing doesn't get much easier - throw this Pussycat plunge v-neck dress in your suitcase and pair with sandals by day and wedges/ lashings of gold jewellery by night. This is a bargain at just £20, down from £28.

What do you think, are any of them calling your name?

Make Up Shake Up! Shopping my stash #2, with Bobbi Brown, Chanel, Clarins, Avon, Benefit, Essence and Garnier

I introduced this series last week as a way to shake things up, avoid getting stuck in a makeup rut and use up more of the products I already own -  instead of constantly lusting after the new and shiny.

Here's what's in this week's make up bag:

Chanel Haute Couture Show AW12 - The Make Up!

Forget the clothes, the shoes, the bags (as stunnng as they were) - when I saw pictures of Chanel's Haute Couture show this week, I was all about the make up and the nails.

Weleda Citrus Refreshing Bath Milk Is My Fluffy Little Pick Of The Week (And Simon Cowell's, Too!)

WOWSA! This citrus bath milk from Weleda is a gorgeously fresh and juicy bathing experience. Recommended for mornings or whenever you need a pick me up, I’ve found it the perfect after work refresher throughout this hot, sticky spell we’re having here in Ireland.

Revlon Lip Butter in Peach Parfait, Lollipop, Candy Apple: Review, Photos, Swatches and FOTD

Revlon Lip Butters Peach Parfait, Lollipop, Candy Apple

Ok, it's taken me a while, but I'm finally ready to row in with my thoughts on Revlon's Lip Butters. These hybrid lip balm/stick products contain mango butter, shea butter and coconut butter to pamper your pout and are one of the most popular lipstick launches of the year.

Sadly we only get 7 of the 20-strong range here in Ireland. I'm not sure why - we love our lipstick on the emerald isle and I suspect they'd sell bucketloads of them if they gave us the full range - or even the 14 available to our UK neighbours. They're €11.25.

Happy Hair, thanks to Zeba Hair Salon - L'Oreal Colour Trophy Winners 2012

Most of us feel better with a professional blowdry, don't we? Which is why I almost snatched the hand off the lovely people from Zeba, when they offered me one the other day.

They were celebrating their recent success at the L'Oreal Awards (you know the ones, I told you all about them here and showed you my makeup look here!)  where they scooped two out of the four coveted awards. The Maynooth salon won the Irish Tatler Style Award, and the Dublin, South William Street salon walked away with the top prize, the L'Oreal Professional Colour Trophy.

I liked Zeba immediately - you get a feel for a place, and the clean, modern layout and friendly efficiency of the staff are just what I look for in a salon. Add to that some decent coffee, great products - they used the Moroccan Oil range on my hair - and those fabulous chairs that massage you while you're at the basin, and you've got a recipe for success in my book.

The icing on the cake was, of course, the talent of the staff. My stylist was John and he really seemed to get my poor frazzled locks and what they needed. My hair was full of body and movement when he'd finished, and I enjoyed the whole experience so much that I'll be back with them soon, for my colour.

What do you look for in a good salon?

Find Zeba at 60 South William Street, Dublin 2 or at Manor Mills Shopping Centre in Maynooth. Check out the website for more.

Make Up Shake Up! Shopping My Stash #1: Maybelline, Sleek, Shu Uemura, Face Atelier and Clarins

I'm not sure where this originated but I first saw it on Lauren's blog - I think it's a great way to get better acquainted with the products I already own.  I've had a rummage so keep reading to see what I'll be wearing to work this week.
