Everyday Make Up Products and Routine with Chanel, Daniel Sandler, Lancome, Rimmel, Louise Young, Collection and ELF Cosmetics!

All those 'What’s In My Bag' posts and videos floating round the web made me realise two things. One, I’m incredibly nosy, and two, I carry around way too much junk with me on a daily basis.

My handbag is so humungous and heavy that my four year old niece could climb in and I wouldn’t notice the difference. For reasons which are hidden to me right now, I felt I needed three make up bags of varying sizes plus a little pouch of brushes on my person at all times.

Rouge Beauty Salon Raise Funds for National Breast Cancer Institute

You may remember that back in October last year I enjoyed a great manicure at Rouge Beauty Salon in Ranelagh. (And if you don’t remember, here’s a little refresher!). Well, the lovely folks there are currently offering a special deal on Balinese massage, to raise funds to support national breast cancer research.

The treatment is €35 and until Saturday, May 12th, €5 from every Balinese back massage will be donated to the National Breast Cancer Research Institute in Galway.

Balinese massage combines gentle stretches,  skin rolling, acupressure and aromatherapy oils to aid relaxation, soothe damaged tissue, and relieve strained muscles and joint pain. It’s said to help with sleep disorders, stress and anxiety, as well as allergies and breathing problems such as asthma.

Rouge Beauty Salon is at 66 Ranelagh Village, Dublin 6; book your appointment on (01) 498 2505 or check them out online.

Did you hear? Charlotte Free is the new face of Maybelline

If you haven’t already seen this, I recommend that you watch it immediately! P’trique, the face of the Shit Fashion Girls Say videos, spills the beans on the new face of Maybelline: the stunning 19-year-old model, Charlotte Free.

With her pink hair, green eyes and Debbie Harry vibe, Charlotte is possibly the coolest girl on the block and a great choice for the Maybelline brand. I’m such a fangirl, and clearly I’m not alone – Free has also just been announced as the new face of Forever 21's SS12 campaign, 'Love is Free' (check out the gorgeous imagery on the Fluff and Fripperies Facebook page).

Not bad for a girl who’s only been modelling a year, eh?

Fashion Fix: SS12 at New Look

Despite my avowals to invest in my clothes and avoid the temptations of fast fashion, more of my wardrobe is from New Look than I'd care to admit. I have a particular weakness for their colourful summer dresses and have often relied on them for holidays.

Made in Ireland: VOYA Organic Beauty

Seaweed bath houses were an indigenous Irish tradition that VOYA Organic Beauty are helping to revive. It's amazing for the skin and, at the beginning of the 20th century, there were an estimated 300 bath houses in the country! But sadly, when VOYA reopened the seaweed baths in Strandhill, Sligo, in 2000, they were the first in Ireland for 100 years.

The logical next step for VOYA was an at-home version of the seaweed bath experience, and so the Lazy Days kit was born. This was the first in what was to become an award winning range of organic beauty products that can now be found in some of the best spas and hotels in the world.

Products for Pregnancy: Human+Kind, BioOil, Jason and Organique - Tried and Tested by a Mum-To-Be

Something a bit different for you today: a guest post from a beautiful mum-to-be. If you know any expectant mothers, point 'em this way!

Meet El, today's guest reviewer!

"Getting pregnant is amazing but as your body cleverly grows to accommodate your little baby, one thing you don’t want to be left looking at at the end of it all is stretch marks. Whilst your new son or daughter will probably think about leaving home at around the age of 18, stretch marks, I'm told, can be for life!

Olive oil is a home remedy that had been recommended to me and in theory it should work as it contains vitamins A, D and E. However, if you're reluctant to smell like a basted turkey there are lots of other products out there to try.

Maybelline Color Tattoo 24 Hr: Review, Photos, Swatches and FOTD!

I had fun this weekend playing about with these cream-gel eye shadows from Maybelline, the long lasting Color Tattoo 24 hr pots. They're designed to be worn on their own, as a primer or cream eyeliner and, in the case of the lighter shades, can also be dabbed over another shadow.

Things To Do In Dublin: Hang Out At Foam Cafe

A year and a half after it first opened, I finally got around to visiting Foam Cafe. This colourful, kitsch and quirky spot is located on 24 Strand Street Great, in
Dublin 1 - just off Jervis Street and the Italian Quarter.

Alice Dellal for Chanel

At the hairdressers this weekend I opened up the latest issue of Red magazine (which I love, but that's not the point there) and was stopped in my tracks by this image for the latest Chanel campaign.

The ad, featuring Alice Dellal, is a huge departure for the fashion powerhouse with a definite punk aesthetic. Ripped fishnets! Tattoos! Nose piercings!

While I can't help wondering what Madame would make of all this - I like to think she'd have approved - I have a personal weakness for all things punk, so I'm definitely a fan. But I was also reminded of this conversation with Rosemary MacCabe: just what statement are they trying to make, here? Is counter culture now just culture?

What do you make of it? Tell me in the comments!

Fluffy Little Pick of the Week: Anchor Necklace from Forever 21

Those who know me are probably sick of my banging on about accessories from Forever 21. I'm a big fan and think they're hard to beat on both selection and price. They have a vast collection of on-trend pieces from scarves to belts, bags to jewellery - everytime I check, there are several new pieces for me to covet.

I popped in recently for a new belt and also spotted this cute little enamel anchor necklace. It appeals to me because sailor motifs are so kitschy and, of course, it's a nod to the nautical theme that comes around each spring without fail. It also layers nicely with my favourite Chupi necklace.

Best of all? It was a tiny little €1.60, and entirely guilt free. Check out your nearest store or buy online.

Have you bagged any bargains of late?

Lip Stuff I Brought To Scotland: Pictures, Swatches, FOTD and OOTD!

I was at a wedding this weekend, and I was planning to show you ALL the makeup I brought away with me... but I'm far too embarrassed. Think a whole makeup bag for each day I was there and you wouldn't be far wrong. And no, of course I hardly wore any of it. It was a classic case of bad - or no - planning; chucking everything into my case the night before I left, after a few glasses of wine and a house margarita.

Made in Ireland: Rockstar Tan

That travel size came in very handy when coming away with me this weekend!

Rockstar Tan, created by former Fair City actress Rachel Kavanagh, has been raking in awards across the board. I was offered the chance to find out why and, as a self tanning novice, took the easy option with Fame, the brand's Instant Mineral Wash Off Tan.

Fame is a mineral tan that, like all products in the Rockstar range,  is suitable for both the face and body and made with natural, organic and skin nurturing ingredients. This weekend's wedding was the perfect chance to put it through its paces.

She Said Beauty: The Hottest New Beauty Box in Town - Plus A Bit of News from Fluff and Fripperies!

By now, we're all familiar with the beauty box concept - essentially, beauty subscription services where you sign up to receive a surprise delivery of sample makeup and skincare products each month.
New to the market is She Said Beauty, which has just announced an extension of its service to Ireland. I was really impressed with the box I was sent, with three full sized makeup products - a hot pink Filthy Gorgeous nail polish, tinted lip balm by Mischa Barton and a pretty champagne shimmer powder from BellaPierre - along with a small tub of Face and Neck polisher from Bharti Vyas and two sets of sample sachets from Comfort Zone and Erno Laszlo. Oh, and a Lindt chocolate egg, too!

Estée Lauder Pure Color Blush in Electric Pink: Review, Pictures and Swatches!

Honestly, it's like Tom Pecheux has been reading my mind. He's only gone and revamped the entire Estée Lauder blush line and, American spelling aside, the new Pure Colour Color Blush in Electric Pink is my new favourite thing. Bold, bright and oh-so-pretty, it's spring in a palette.

Sharing is caring: Lisa Eldridge recreates Cheryl Cole’s cover look for ELLE UK

Even though it came out in January of last year, I remember being blown away by how good Cheryl Cole looked on this cover of Elle UK. It turns out that her ‘lived in’ rock chick look had been created by the amazingly talented makeup artist, Lisa Eldridge, who shares her secrets in this video.

I’ll definitely be attempting this for my next big night out. Do we like?

MAC Makeup: New Limited Edition Collection, Tres Cheek

I like a lot of MAC products but they've never been my favourite brand. However, my blush addiction continues unabated so I'm positively giddy about their latest Limited Edition collection, Tres Cheek.

Six pretty colours - three pinks, a mandarin-red orange, a peach and a lavender (all listed below)– are on offer and they promise to be sheer but buildable. I'm heading away this weekend and look forward to swatching these in the airport and, hopefully, bringing at least one of these lovelies home in my suitcase!
On counter this month for €21.50, the range includes:
  • Pink Tea- neutral beige pink (satin)
  • Lovecloud- bright mid-tone pink (satin)
  • Peony Petal- bright blue pink (satin)
  • Modern mandarin-red orange (satin)
  • Immortal flower- bright peach (satin)
  • Full of joy- lavender (frost)
Will you be getting cheeky with MAC?

Fluffy Little Pick of the Week: Catrice Intensif'eye Eyeshadow in Black or White Swan?

Bottom left: swatched both wet and dry.

Part of Catrice's Nymphelia collection, these baked eyeshadows are marbled with three colours that swirl together for a multi-dimensional look. This one, Black or White Swan?, is really pigmented and sparkly so is probably best kept for a night out rather than day-to-day use.
I don't own MAC's Golden Gaze, but from what I've seen and read, this doesn't seem like a million miles off. It's also similar to the marbled black and gold shadow from the Clarins Barocco palette, which I absolutely adore, except the Catrice version is a fraction of the price.
These shadows cost just €4.29 and can be used wet or dry; I now own two out of the available three (check out Have You Seen Alice? here), so it seems daft not to round out the set...! Watch out Charly's Chocolate Factory, I'm coming for you soon.
Have you tried out anything from the Nymphelia collection?
Oh! And if you can't get Catrice in your country but would like to try it, let me know in the comments as I'd love to arrange a swap!

Fashion Fix: SS12 at Oasis

Oasis have certainly been busy: their new collection features more of spring and summer's hottest trends than you can shake a stick at: ladylike chic, prints and florals, pastels, neons and nudes, the 50s and the 1920s...phew!
I love the three looks pictured above: of them all, the first one is probably the most wearable (although obviously not for me, I'd have ketchup down it within three minutes of getting it on.) The buttoned-up white shirt (it's actually a shirt-dress they've used, here, and it's €75; the skirt is €62) is fresh and elegant; the skirt length, and the sheer panels in the shirt, stop the look from being too prim and proper.
Look 2 is so fun; 50s shapes and clashing prints and colours, what's not to like? Apart from the crop top, a singularly unforgiving garment, perhaps best left to those who are teenagers, models, extremely confident or all three. The top is €50, the skirt is €56.
Finally, look 3 shows that matchy matchy can be quite lovely when pulled off well, with a clashing belt, clean lines and, crucially, artfully messed-up hair to stop things looking too done. The bird print trousers are €56; the top, €53.
The Oasis SS12 collection is in store now, or available to buy online. What do you make of the looks above?

Made in Ireland: La Bougie Scented Candles

I am a scented candle fanatic - I've been known to bring my favourites, by Diptyque and Cire Trudon, away with me on holiday! But in recent times it has seemed a bit obscene to shell out €50+ on something that will quite literally go up in smoke - so I've been on the lookout for something a little more affordable, but that still feels luxe.
Enter new Irish brand, La Bougie. They launched on Valentine's Day this year and offer three unique scent varieties, created by their house perfumer from scratch: Sweet Pea and Pear, Cox and Carnation and Rockrose and Oudh.

WIN! €50 Groupon Voucher Giveaway, on Fluff and Fripperies [Now Closed!]

They seemed to spring from nowhere. When the recession had well and truly bitten and drinks with umbrellas seemed but a far-off memory, group buying sites were like manna from heaven.

Suddenly, life’s little luxuries were back within our grasp…as long as we had a coupon. And believe you me, I’ve had a coupon or two: weekends away, haircuts, massages, meals out - I’ve enjoyed them all, thanks to a cheeky little internet deal.

Stuff I Heart: Book Backlog!

We're off work today as it's Easter Monday, so finally I have some time to catch up on my reading! I love having a pile of eclectic reads to work through. It rarely happens as I go through books so quickly, but I got some lovely books as presents for a recent birthday.

Sharing is caring: Sali Hughes on the Biggest Beauty Trends for Spring 2012

I’ve shared advice from Sali Hughes a number of times on this blog; I love the Guardian’s resident beauty expert for her no nonsense approach and the way she demystifies beauty products, showing us the easiest way to achieve a polished look. This video is no exception; it is, hands down, the simplest approach to incorporating spring’s biggest beauty trends into your current routine. Enjoy - and hope you're having a lovely Easter Sunday!

Made in Ireland: Sudocrem set to conquer the world!

This post series, Made in Ireland, is dedicated to some of the best Irish beauty and skincare brands around. Check out the previous posts in the series here, and here.

Today’s featured product is much beloved here in Ireland and is slowly but surely building up a cult following abroad. Sudocrem Antiseptic Healing Cream has been around for almost 80 years and, while originally developed to treat the sore skin caused by nappy rash, it’s probably best known on these shores as a teenage spot cream!

The thick, white cream can also be used for a myriad of ailments including cuts and grazes, sunburn, minor burns and eczema, as well as the now infamous Sudomasque.

It’s available in the traditional grey tub (€2.23 for 60g) or in a new, fancypants tube, which is €2.15 for 30g.  And if this Daily Mail article is to be believed, it’s flying off the shelves:  they report a massive 150 per cent rise in the sale of the cream, since February last year!

Will you be snapping up some Sudocrem?

YSL Glossy Stain in No. 13, Rose Tempera: Review, Pictures and Swatches

'GLOSS? STAIN? LIPSTICK? WHY COMPROMISE? HAVE IT ALL' declares the blurb for the YSL Rouge Pur Couture Vernis À Lèvres Glossy Stains, and I was certainly intrigued. Bone idle as I am (just ask my mother!), I hate to reapply lip products during the day and so the prospect of a longlasting, comfortable to wear product was very appealing.

Bubz Beauty Inspired Face Of The Day!

Bubz Beauty is my latest beauty obsession. She is just adorable and I love the Northern Irish twang to her accent. This weekend I watched her Flirty Spring look video and it inspired me to play about with some purples in my own collection. The end result was  much smokier than Bubbi's but I was happy with it nonetheless.
