Sweet like candy: Maybelline Colorsensational Popsticks, Avon Shine Attract Lipstick and Clarins Instant Smooth Crystal Lip Balm

Top to bottom: Maybelline, Clarins, Avon

Lately I'm loving this trio of candy inspired lip treats that have landed on my desk. Perfect for summer, these all promise to be hydrating and comfortable to wear, while delivering a glossy tint to the lips while they're at it. And it doesn't hurt that they all remind me of jellies and lollipops, either...

Maybelline Colorsensational Popsticks: These promise shine with a hint of popsicle tint, but this one, Pink Sugar, doesn't give any colour at all.  It does give a pretty shine to the lips, is fun to use and has a lovely juicy scent, but it's more of a glorified care product. There are four other shades in the range though, which may have better payoff. These are €10.49.

Swatches: top Avon, bottom Clarins

Avon Shine Attract lipstick: Unlike the other two shown here, these don't smell of sweeties - sadface! But they're nice and hydrating, give a lovely shiny pop of colour and have the added bonus of SPF 15. There's a central core of colour - this is Happy Pink - wrapped in an outer layer of vitamin E gel. The packaging looks nice but be careful with it in your handbag - the lid keeps popping off mine. They're €11.

Clarins Instant Smooth Crystal Lip Balm: I mentioned this when I reviewed the Clarins summer collection over on Beaut.ie. Like the Avon product this has a core of colour encased in an outer layer of translucent balm. This one is Crystal Violet and payoff is really good - it gives a nice juicy wash of colour to the lips. It smells amazing, feels moisturising on the lips and is €20.33 - it's also available in sheer red, coral or pink.

Have you tried any of these? What lip colours are you loving right now?
