The HD Brow is not the same as the Scouse Brow.
That was cleared up for me on my visit to Carter Beauty this weekend, to try out the hottest beauty treatment on the block: High Definition Brows.
Salon owner Marissa Carter explained that there was confusion even amongst her staff on this point - until they underwent the training. To clarify, Scouse brows are the very harsh, painted-on brows made famous by E4 series Desperate Scousewives (check out this post on beaut.ie to see more). Whereas HD Brows are achieved after a precise, seven step process that includes assessment, tinting, waxing, tweezing, threading, trimming and finishing.
And to illustrate the difference, Marissa and her team just carried out a HD Brows make-under on a member of the Desperate Housewives cast. Galwegian Scousewife Layla Flaherty was in Ireland for an appearance on last Friday's Late Late, and if you caught the show you may have noticed her brows looked a tad more elegant than before.

It was my own turn the following day, and brow artist Katie talked me through every step of the process. The first step was tinting, which surprised me, as my brows are naturally black. But tinting will darken the fine little baby hairs around the brows, giving you more to work with.
After this, my brows were measured and my facial shape assessed, before my new shape was plotted out and threaded, waxed, tweezed and trimmed into creation. It's the most thorough brow treatment I've ever had, resulting in the most precise and groomed eyebrows I've ever sported!
|My shots are much less glamorous than Layla's, but you get the idea! My brows are still full but appear higher, sleeker, glossier and more defined. And this is without any brow powder or pencil.|
It's also worth keeping an eye on the website as they do really great seasonal and special offers. My treatment was complimentary on this occasion, but my friends and I have bought summer pamper packages before, and I've been treated by Mr Fluff to the winter one. And now my brows have had a taste of the HD treatment, I'll definitely be back for more!
