It was love at first sight with this week's pick.
I fell head-over-heels for Irish jewellery designer Chupi's beautiful creations the moment I saw them. And I fell in love with one piece in particular: my initial on a gold disc, with a bluey-green semi-opaque gemstone called amazonite.
But the vendor didn't take cards and I didn't have cash on me, so I couldn't take it home that night. I popped into the Loft market on a number of subsequent occasions, but never spotted the particular stone I had fallen for. In the end I emailed Chupi herself (yep, that's her real name), who made one especially for me, posted it out to me and trusted me to pop in to pay for it. How often do you experience customer service like that?
I was delighted with the price, too. My necklace was just €33 - I've spent more on costume pieces, and everything Chupi makes is made from semi precious stones with silver or gold.
As well as her gorgeous gems, Chupi has her own independent clothing label and designs extremely pretty dresses - she was picked up by Topshop scouts in her first year at fashion college, making her the youngest designer to ever work with the clothing chain. And, as if all that's not enough, she's also a food writer and has penned 'What To Eat When You Can't Eat Anything: The Complete Allergy Cookbook'.
Chupi's designs will soon be available to buy online (her new website is currently in development) but in the meantime you can find her at a number of Dublin locations including The Loft Market and the Designer Mart, or connect with her on Twitter or Facebook.
