Pick of the week: Catrice Made to Stay Long Lasting Eyeshadow in 020 Romans Gone Bad, 040 Lord Of The Blings and 050 Metall Of Honor (with review and swatches!)

Catrice, you’re killing me! Or killing my bank balance, to be more precise. Yes, your prices are brilliant, but so are your products: the temptation to buy up every single colour for myself, my best friends and my sisters is just too much for one weak willed beauty blogger to bear.

And so it proved with this week’s fluffy little pick of the week. I bought one of these mousse-like metallic cream shadows on Saturday, wore it the next day and picked up two more after work on Monday!

Revamp your autumn look, with bargains at Boots!

Autumn means packing away my summer dresses to make room for my new season wardrobe. And it often means a new makeup wardrobe too, as I pick up a few bits and pieces to help me work my favourite new season trends.  Whether it’s modern mattes, the new neutrals or glamorous gothic, Boots has made it a whole lot easier to achieve the latest looks with their latest 3 for 2 mix and match on cosmetics and haircare, available till October 4th. What better excuse to stock up now and revamp your beauty wardrobe!

(And no, I'm not affiliated with Boots and this is not a sponsored post! I just love the beauty bargains and want to spread the love.)

Take Five Thursdays: my take!

If you’re a regular reader of Fluff and Fripperies then a) I LOVE YOU and b) you’ll know I’ve been running a series of guest posts over the last five weeks, where five of my favourite bloggers have shared their top five favourite beauty products of all time. (See what Karen from Lovely Girlie Bits had to say here, Sarah from Pretty Easy here, Dawn from Skinni Peach here, Rosemary from Fash Mob here, and Hayley from London Beauty Queen here!)
Today I’m rounding out the series by sharing my own favourites – it’s been tough, but after much consideration, here’s what makes the grade.

Oriflame goody bag winners announced!

Firstly, a massive thank you to everyone who entered. There was a huge response and I am delighted to announce that the following three people have been selected by random.org to each win an Oriflame goody bag worth €100.

NOTD: Essence Colour & Go quick drying nail polish in #22, ‘What Do U Think’

What do I think? Well, Essence, leaving the silly name aside, I think this sweet little polish was a bloody brilliant buy, that’s what I think. A creamy orangey coral, in the bottle this has a fine gold microshimmer that is virtually invisible on the nail. The colour is a wee bit brighter than it looks in the bottle, and it goes on a little streaky, but for an obscenely tiny amount of money what you get here is an almost identical dupe of Chanel’s Orange Fizz -- a polish I occasionally visit in Brown Thomas but never quite got around to taking home with me.

Don’t believe me? Check out this great comparison post by Short n Chic.

You’ll find Essence in selected pharmacies along with larger Dunnes and Penneys shops. The Colour & Go polishes are €1.29 per bottle.

Ojon Damage Reverse Restorative Shampoo and Conditioner

Ojon Damage Reverse Restorative Conditioner (left) and Shampoo

Cult haircare favourites Ojon launched in Arnotts this month. There are five available ranges: Damage Reverse, Dry Recovery, Volume Advance, Color Sustain and Full Detox. Celebrity fans apparently include Alicia Keys, Gisele Bunchen and Scarlett Johanson, so I was delighted to be offered the chance to try them out. As regular readers will know, my hair is a little unhappy right now so I chose the shampoo and conditioner from the Damage Reverse line.

Treatment Tales: Pretty Woman Beauty Salon & Laser Clinic

This weekend I was invited to try out a treatment at Pretty Woman Beauty Salon in Finglas Village, just a short bus ride away from where I live. This modern red- and-white salon is four years old and spans two storeys, with three treatment rooms on each floor. The downstairs rooms are used for waxing and tanning with the luxe upstairs area used for more pampering treatments like facials and massages.  There’s a lovely ambience throughout the salon with Yankee scented candles perfuming the air.

Out With The Old, In With The New

These products have all been well loved and well used!
As you can imagine, as a beauty blogger my bathroom shelves are heaving with lotions and potions and so it was with a sigh of relief that I finished up this trio of body and skincare products to make room for some other goodies in my stash.

Smooth, non-sticky, shimmer free and packed with pigment, these glosses are my latest love. From their cute packaging and vivid colours to their balmy texture, with these high-performing lovelies you get so, so much bang for so, so little buck(s).

Avon Giveaway! Win 2 x Outspoken Intense by Fergie fragrances and 2 x Colordisiac lipsticks (UK and Ireland only)

Avon has just celebrated its 125th birthday and now two readers of Fluff and Fripperies can join the celebrations, by winning one of two fantastic prizes. Both  include a 50ml bottle of Outspoken Intense by Fergie, and a long-lasting, moisture rich lipstick from the gorgeous Colordisiac line.

Take Five Thursdays...Take Five!

Take five of my favourite bloggers over five weeks, talking about their top five favourite products and what do we have? Fluff and Fripperies new post series, Take Five Thursdays! My final guest blogger of the series (read the others here, here, here and here!)  is Hayley from London Beauty Queen, one of the UK’s most popular beauty blogs. I’m a big fan of Hayley’s writing and I’m not alone: her no-nonsense approach and chatty, conversational style have won her numerous awards and accolades since she started LBQ in April last year.
Hayley recently sat on the judging panel for the Debenhams and Tesco Beauty Awards, is currently covering London Fashion Week and somehow managed to find time to organise The Only Way Is Blogging, a super-duper bloggers’ event that I’m still crushed to have missed.

Coast Autumn Winter 2011 collection

Jules animal print day dress - €120
I recently popped in to the Coast press day (where I spotted Laura Whiston looking stunning in her long leather coat, and met the lovely lady behind high fashion site Icone Du Jour). I confess to having pegged Coast as a place to shop for special occasions as opposed to my day-to-day wardrobe, but I was proved pleasantly wrong by the lovely array of ‘pop on’ day dresses, covetable coats and stylish separates on display.  There were influences from several decades from the 30s to the 70s and of course, a glamorous party dress or two was also in the mix.

Hand Heaven: Lush Tiny Hands, Roger & Gallet Crème Sublime and The Body Shop Almond Hand & Nail Cream

Dried out paws are a common complaint with the changing seasons, but luckily there’s a whole new crop of products on the market to protect and nourish your hands and nails.  I've been trialling three, and here's how I got on...

Guest review of Essence quattro eyeshadow palette, nail polish and longlasting lipgloss

You may remember that I recently looked for a guest reviewer for some new Essence products on Fluff and Fripperies. New beauty blogger Magda (check out her blog here!) has been trialling them on your behalf, and here's what she had to say.

Review of The Body Shop Extra Virgin Minerals cream compact foundation with SPF 15

Because I often apply my makeup on the hoof, I like the convenience of a compact foundation, and was excited to be sent the new Extra Virgin Minerals compact from The Body Shop.

Review of Avon Advance Techniques Professional Hair Colour in 04, Dark Brown

The shade I used, Dark Brown
Perhaps he thought he was being funny, perhaps he was really trying to help, I may never know. But one thing’s for sure, Mr Fluff took his life into his own hands on Friday evening when he leaned over and said, “You know, for a beauty blogger, you’d really want to be beautifying your own head first – gray streaks are OUT!” Well, you can just imagine how that went down. But a swift glance in the mirror confirmed that things were getting just a little out of control in the tonsorial department and perhaps, just perhaps, more time than is advised had passed since my last adventures in home hair colouring.

Fluffy little pick of the week: Chanel Illusion d’Ombre Long-Wear Luminous Eyeshadow in Mirifique, with review and swatches

These swatches don't do justice to Mirifique's sparkliness -
check out Temptalia for a great close up of all it's multi coloured glory
This week’s pick is these gorgeous cushiony gel/mousse eyeshadows from Chanel. Firm and slightly moist to the touch, with a dense sponginess, Illusion d’Ombre long-wear luminous eyeshadows are unlike anything else in my collection. Packaged in their luxurious little glass pots, and with 6 unusual and interesting shades, they are really, truly, beautiful.

I was veering towards Epatante or Illusoire, which are shades I would probably get a lot more wear out of -- particularly for day. But I fell for Mirifique the hardest, with its seductive shiny, shimmery ways. A deep black with multicoloured sparkle, this shadow is so pretty that it’s almost hypnotic. I really think it’s love.

It’s so enticing, in fact, that I couldn’t wait until I’d photographed it for the site, but dove right in and applied it straight away for an intensely dark and sparkly full-on night-time look. There was some fallout at first, but once it set, it set, and stayed put after that. The brush was easy enough to work with, but I think I’ll use my fingers next time.

Released last month, these cost €28 for 4 grams of product (but are slightly cheaper in the airport, where I picked mine up). Now, that’s not cheap, but having tried Mirifique, perhaps the best endorsement is that I really, really want both Epatante and Illusoire, too.  Like, REALLY.

Take Five Thursdays...Take Four!

Take five of my favourite bloggers over five weeks, talking about their top five favourite beauty products and what do we have? Fluff and Fripperies new post series, Take Five Thursdays! My fourth guest blogger of the series (read the others here, here and here!)  is Rosemary MacCabe, freelance journalist, stylist and blogger with The Irish Times. Girl got SKILLZ! Before I’d ever met Rosemary I felt like I knew her from her writing: she is fearless, honest, clever and, as she’ll tell you herself, hilarious – and all of this just jumps off the page when you read her. She has very soft skin, enjoys small furry animals, and likes to be known as Macca*.
Here are her top five picks:

ONE. Johnson's baby oil. I recently started using it as a moisturiser when my body moisturiser ran out - I'd bought two of the baby oils for the price of one a couple of months back, so at some point they were going to need to be used up. I rub it all over at night before going to bed and, honestly, my skin has never been as soft. I have the bedtime version, which I'm sure is no different to the daytime version but smells a bit like baby sleep. Not in a gross way. It's really relaxing and comforting and, as I said, baby soft skin! Plus it's cheap, which means it's a winner! I don't know that I'll ever go back to regular moisturiser now! (During the day I use a different moisturiser because it's too greasy to put clothes over, incidentally!)

TWO. Benefit Big Beautiful Eyes palette - my go-to when I'm feeling a little bit lazy. The colours in the palette seem to suit every occasion, and I loved the little how-to that came with it (and is now sadly lost) as it told you exactly what to do to give yourself, eh, big, beautiful eyes. Of course. In any case I really like it - the eyeliner is a lovely brown that you can wear during the day or at night, and the eyeshadow has just the right amount of shimmer in it to wake up your eyes without making you look like you're going to a disco.

THREE. Smashbox Photo Finish Primer. I'd always thought primers were a bit of a cod until a friend bought me this one; it makes your skin feel a bit like doll's skin, which my feminist side is totally against (women are not dolls, people!) but my make-up-loving side is very much for. It's a difficult few minutes' application, as a result, all that inner turmoil. But I love it! It makes my skin totally smooth and make-up lasts twice as long, at least. And I really notice when I don't wear it; on nights out my face gets quite shiny and foundation seems to slip off, especially if there's perspiration (or, as us ladies should call it, "glowing") involved, but not when I'm wearing this. Which makes me wonder why I ever don't wear it, fool that I am.

FOUR. Cetaphil cleansers. As far as I know these are US-only, so I stock up whenever I'm Stateside. They're cheap as chips and suit every skin type. It's just a really simple, basic cleanser, with nothing harsh or oily or super moisturising. They won't cure acne or chronic dryness, but if you have nothing really wrong with your skin, Cetaphil is great. It doesn't damage your skin at all and will take all your make-up off; although I usually double-cleanse, as I was tipped off by a Laura Mercier make-upper (is there a better word for the women on the Laura Mercier counter?!) recently. So I cleanse with Cetaphil and a face cloth, then with a cleanser and cotton pads, then I use toner and moisturiser. That sounds quite painstaking, doesn't it?! I must be much vainer than I'd thought.

FIVE. Korres shower gel. Any variety - they smell amazing and feel even nicer. I haven't had one in way too long! They can be bought in Eve @ The Grooming Rooms on . . . Clarendon St, I want to say, but also in Sephora away foreign, where you can get great sets. I'm currently using their yoghurt facial moisturiser, too, which is really lovely. But the shower gels … mmmmm.

In conclusion, it would seem that I'm much more of a skincare buff than a make-up one, which is interesting, although I am entirely obsessed with keeping my skin baby soft! Ask anyone!

Have you tried any of Rosemary’s picks, and what was your verdict?

*I’m pretty sure. But don’t quote me. Especially not to her face.

Love the look: Carey Mulligan in The Great Gatsby

I'm just crazy about this photo of Carey Mulligan, which I first spotted here on Sonya Goulding's fantastic fashion blog. Like Sonya, I can't wait for the latest film adaptation of The Great Gatsby, directed by Baz Luhrmann, and I think Carey is absolutely perfect for the role of Daisy. And how stunning does she look here in her 1920s finery, all bold brows, deep red lips, beauty spot and fabulous flicked eyeliner? I die!

Now, go check out Sonya's blog, you won't be sorry!

Oriflame Cosmetics: an overview!

A few of you asked me about Oriflame after I featured their Caramel Tender Care balm in a recent post. I picked up a few products as part of a recent DealRush deal - and remember nabbing a purple eyeshadow from my mum when I was younger - but that was about as far as my knowledge extended.
So I caught up with the lady behind the deal, Carol Fitzpatrick, to find out more. Carol’s enthusiasm for the company is infectious and she told me all about the 100+ scientists employed here in Ireland, her favourite Oriflame products, and how you can volunteer for a scientific study to advance the cosmetic cause!
The lovely Carol!

Tell us a little bit about Oriflame.
The company was founded in Sweden in 1967 by two brothers and their friend, and is now an international beauty company selling direct in more than 60 countries.  With an independent sales force of approx. 3.6 million, Oriflame has an annual turnover of €1.5 billion.  There are more than 1000 cosmetic products in the range, inspired, designed and formulated by over 100 scientists at the Global R&D facility in Bray.  Oriflame products are based on natural ingredients and never tested on animals.

Where are the products available or how do you order?
The products are available to buy from your local Oriflame consultant, online or from me through my webpage - I can post out a free catalogue to anyone who’d like one, just drop me a line at oriflame.ie@hotmail.com.

How long have you been with the company?
I have been with Oriflame since 1984.  I first worked in manufacturing before moving to the accounts department at the Research & Development facility in Bray.  Oriflame is a fabulous company to work for and when my job was relocated to Stockholm, I decided to join the independent sales team.  I joined up in February and am now a Group Manager with a very active team. We’re actually recruiting both part-time sales people and managers at the moment and if people are interested they can contact me for more details!
You obviously love your job – tell us why?
What I love about my job is that anybody can do this. Once you have drive and energy you can build a strong customer base and successful sales team. My plan is to become Regional Manager in a few months. My friends joke that my coffin will have the Oriflame logo on the side!

Is it true that all new products are developed here in Ireland?
Yep, all the research and development of new products are carried out in a state of the art facility in Bray.  We have over 100 scientists working in different areas: skin, colour, toiletries, claim support, packaging and registration to name but a few. Studies are carried out in Bray to confirm the claims that we carry on our products, and to give our formulation scientists immediate feedback.  All studies are carried out on volunteers and strictly monitored.  To take part in a study, have a look at www.ori-derm.ie -  I have always found it great fun to take part, and feel like I've made a contribution to future beauty!

Some of the Oriflame products

Can you tell us about some products that have been recently launched?
We’ve just launched the first two products of our cosmeceutical skin care range - Bio-clinic Lifting Power Concentrate Day and Night (€35.95), which has taken 5 years to develop and combines 3 advanced lifting actives: Pure Retinol, Hyaluronic Acid and Contraction peptide. I am a true believer in this as it has really lifted me ol' jowl department.  The second is Bio-clinic Soft tint Red Reductor Day and Night (€37.20), which contains Aescin to improve micro-circulation and reduce facial skin redness and dilated capillaries.  I have a red nose and chin (extremities!) and this has reduced my need for concealer.  My mother swears by it!

What are the top 3 best sellers?
First up would be Tender Care (€10.95), a little pot of moisture heaven.  Emma, you have already reviewed the caramel flavoured one.  The original has no fragrance.  It contains beeswax and you can use it on your lips or any dry area; a little goes a very long way and it lasts forever.   I've got pots everywhere, on the desk, bed side table, bathroom and more than a few handbags.  Power Shine Lipstick (€10.95) is another bestseller - this comes in 15 colours and gives glittering 3D sparkle, shine and moisture.  It smells of fabulous watermelon, mmm….The third would be Wonderlash Mascara (€9.95) which has always been a favourite of mine - when I can get it back from my daughter.  It comes in 3 colours, black, brown, and prune, and has a plastic bendy brush applicator to really separate the lashes leaving no dreaded clumps.
What are your other favourites?
Ahhh my personal favourites, where shall I start?  As you can gather from all the above I'm a bit of an Oriflame ho! On a desert Island I would of course let myself go, who would see the state of me?!? But at the moment I can't go without; Even Out Dark Spot fading concentrate (€17.95) dotted on to some pigmentation on my neck; Bio-clinic lifting cream on my neck and jowls; Bio-clinic red reductor on my nose and chin; ecollagen anti-wrinkle eye care  (€12.95) around my eye area and ecollagen anti-wrinkle day cream (€28.95) for the other bits I've missed! Was that TMI? And that’s before I put on any make-up!
Have you learned something new or were you already familiar with this brand? And if this has piqued your interest in Oriflame cosmetics then keep an eye on the blog, because there just might be a giveaway coming up soon!

The Body Shop Soothing Peppermint Foot Care

Some time ago I was sent a few products from The Body Shop’s Peppermint foot range to try out.  As Mr Fluff will attest, my feet are always killing me and any sort of foot pampering is downright blissful in my book. I was sent samples of the Cooling Foot Lotion and Foot Spray, along with the Reviving Leg Gel. The rest of the range sounded so divine that I purchased the Reviving Foot Soak and  Smoothing Pumice Foot Scrub, so that I could try out all the products together.

The pale pink foot scrub crystals contain natural effervescent salts

After my friends’ wedding last week my feet had spent longer than usual in higher than usual heels, so it seemed the ideal time to put these products through their paces. I spritzed my tired, aching soles with the foot spray before soaking, scrubbing and lotioning them to foot heaven, finishing by working the leg gel from my ankles to my knees.

Smoothing pumice foot scrub

The entire ritual was soothing and relaxing and I particularly enjoyed the fresh, sweet tingliness of the peppermint oil -- sourced from the English countryside through the The Body Shop’s fair trade programme, Community Trade. The products also contain natural nourishers like sesame oil, almond oil, grapeseed oil and Community Trade cocoa butter.

The soak and scrub felt especially pampering -– the peppermint scent is fab and afterwards my feet felt thoroughly cleansed, revived and exfoliated. The spray and gel soothed my feet and both felt intensely cooling and refreshing.

Because I already had the lotion, I gave the Intensive Foot Rescue Cream a miss this time. But this moisturising treatment sounds like just the ticket for my poor old dry soles and heels, and can be used overnight. Along with organically-grown Brazilian soya oil, cocoa butter from Ghana and beeswax from Zambia – all from the Community Trade programme - this product also contains grape acids for additional skin smoothing benefits. It’s definitely one I’ll be picking up in the future.

I LOVE this range and the products left my feet feeling relaxed, revitalised, softer, smoother and altogether in a far, far happier place.

Prices for The Body Shop Peppermint Foot Care Range:
Peppermint Cooling Foot Lotion - RRP: €13.70
Peppermint Intensive Foot Rescue - RRP: €15.95
Peppermint Reviving Foot Soak - RRP: €11.95
Peppermint Cooling Foot Spray - RRP: €8.55
Peppermint Smoothing Pumice Foot Scrub - RRP: €11.95.
Peppermint Reviving Leg Gel - RRP: €10.25

Announcing this winner is, frankly, paining me as I am loathe to part with such a sensational prize. This FABULOUS goody bag from gorgeous Parisian brand NUXE is all going to one lucky winner, and that person is:

Jules Keeley

Congratulations Jules - I'll be dropping you a (tear-stained) line about how to claim your prize.

But don't be too sad if you didn't win this time as there are lots of lovely giveaways coming up on the site and the Fluff and Fripperies Facebook page, so make sure you're following to be in with a chance to win. (The Google Followers button is under the Facebook gizmo in the gray sidebar to the right, there...hit it, and you'll make my day!)

YSL Mascara Volume Effet Faux Cils Shocking in Black Bronze; FOTD, and swatches

Top: sleek gold packaging; middle right, product swatch; middle left, product on eye; bottom right, product on eye; bottom left, the helix cut brush.

I had a very special occasion this week that merited some very special makeup. Two of my friends got married to each other in a lovely and intimate ceremony, followed by a fun yet elegant party in the charming Schoolhouse Hotel. I had to bring out the big guns and wore my brand new Volume Effet Faux Cils Shocking mascara in Bronze Black, from the latest YSL collection, Noir Couleurs (or The New Blacks).

I’m really excited by this collection, which is focused on the eyes and nails and blends black with an array of shimmering jewel tones for a deliciously dark and smoky finish.

The mascara promises ‘instant excessive volume’ thanks to a new, slim, helix cut brush – and it delivers. I found the wand easy to work with, creating a full-on lash look with pumped up volume and length in seconds.  On my black eyelashes the bronzed effect was very subtle - pretty when it caught the light, and dark enough to give me the intensity of a plain ol’ black mascara.

The colour perfectly complimented what is probably my favourite current eyeshadow, the marbled bronze, black and gold shade from Clarins 2010 Barocco eye colour trio. I teamed it with Avon’s very impressive mega impact gel eye-liner pencil – it was the first time I’d tried this product, too, and I plan to review it shortly.

And there’s good news if you like the idea of this mascara or any of the other gorgeous products in the new YSL range.  Between now and the end of September you can receive a complimentary smoky eye make-over in Brown Thomas Dublin, Galway, Limerick or Cork, to coincide with the exclusive launch of YSL's The New Blacks/Noir Couleurs Collection in BT stores.
Here’s a breakdown of the other products I used -- if you’d like me to review anything else from this look, just let me know in the comments.

FACE: Clarins Everlasting Foundation; Estee Lauder Signature Silky Powder Blush in Peach Nuance, #21

EYES: Clarins Barocco Eye Colour Trio (middle shade all over lid, and gold on the inside corners); Avon mega impact gel eye-liner in black flash; Avon glimmerstick brow definer in dark brown; YSL Mascara Volume Effet Faux Cils Shocking in Bronze Black, #3

LIPS: Avon Colordisiac in Flirty Fuchsia (reviewed here)

Have you tried any of these products? What did you think? Are any on your wish list?

Sharing is Caring: Sali Hughes on the most reliable hair gadgets EVAH

I love the no-nonsense approach taken by the Guardian's resident beauty columnist Sali Hughes. And she is single-handedly responsible, thanks to this video on the most reliable hair gadgets, for my cancelling a hair appointment for my friends' wedding this week and attempting a DIY-job with a set of heated rollers instead. I'll let you know soon if it's safe to mention Sali in my company again....!

Fluffy little pick of the week: the Travalo!

This week I am loving this ingenius little gadget that I picked up in Prestwick airport last weekend. While I ADORE the gift of Chanel Beige* that my sisters gave me last Christmas, the subtle fragrance wears off quickly and the giant 200 ml bottle is not ideal for carting around on a day-to-day basis.

Beige beside my Chanel No 5 bottle, for comparison!
Enter the Travalo, a refillable atomiser spray that fits in the palm of my hand and is perfect for slipping into a  handbag or pocket, to spritz on throughout the day. It's foolproof to use, attaching to the nozzle of any perfume bottle and pumping full in seconds. The Travalo comes in a variety of colours - I spotted silver, gold and black - and cost me £9.99, the same price you can purchase it for online. I've been using - and loving - it all week.

*Beige was introduced to the Les Exclusifs de Chanel perfume range at the end of 2008 and a quick sniff confirmed it was my perfect fragrance for day. I'm not great at describing scents, but to me this smells woody and floral, with a powdery finish that reminds me of Chanel No 5. You can buy this range in the Chanel clothing boutique - and not the makeup counter - at Brown Thomas, Dublin.

Take Five Thursdays...Take Three!

Take five of my favourite bloggers over five weeks, talking about their top five favourite beauty products and what do we have? Fluff and Fripperies new post series, Take Five Thursdays! My third guest blogger of the series (read the others here and here) is Dawn Hill, aka Skinni Peach – the talented lady who gives us the skinni on all things peachy! Dawn’s blog covers  ‘beauty, fashion, pretty things and ramblings’ and has led to a stint with RSVP magazine, a regular slot with StyleBible.ie and recent appearances on RTE’s Red Radar where she talks shopping, style and beauty.
Here are Dawn’s all-time top five favourites:
ONE – Coconut Oil: This natural bit of goodness is one of my must have products. I use Viridian’s Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil, which is the purest form you can get your hands on. It’s a serious multi-tasker and I use it for eye makeup removal, as an intensive overnight hair conditioning treatment, as a cleanser, body moisturiser…the list goes on! The coconut oil is hard at room temperature, but melts on application to the skin. I also use it as a lip balm by scooping some of the hard oil into a tiny container with a lid and melting it for a few seconds in the microwave – this way the oil melts into the form of the container. It can then be left to harden again at room temperature and popped into your bag! I’ve also recently started scooping a spoonful into my White Tea, which takes a bit of getting use to, but the benefits of coconut oil taken internally and used externally are seriously impressive!
TWO – Trilogy Age Proof Nutrient Plus Firming Serum: Serum is one of the most important products in my skincare routine and I’ve been using them for a couple of years now. Serums are packed with concentrated ingredients and penetrate the skin deeper than moisturiser. I only use natural serums, ones without Silicones in the ingredients list. If there are silicones in your serum, you’re not getting the full benefit of the rest of the ingredients - silicone molecules are too large to penetrate the skin and just sit on top of it. They make the skin ‘feel’ soft and ‘appear’ smooth, but offer no benefits to the skin. Trilogy’s Age Proof Serum is one of the best I’ve tried. Its packed with anti-oxidants and hyaluronic acid which plumps and hydrates the skin. One pump of the product is plenty under moisturiser and I have to say, my skin loves this stuff!

THREE – Benefit Brow Zings: The shape of your eyebrows has a massive effect on your overall appearance. Shaped and groomed correctly, they can frame the entire face and even make you look younger. I use Benefit’s Brow Zings and think I will do for life! It’s a fabulous product that helps eyebrows be the best they can be. In the brow kit you get a tinted wax for keeping strays in tact and tinting the entire brow. Next to that is the powder which is used to fill in any gaps. Together they really make your eyebrows stand out. Defo a cult product for me!
FOUR – Benefit Cha Cha Tint: Another offering from Benefit, Cha Cha Tint stole my heart this summer! I’m a huge fan of all the Benefit tints but this one has to be my favourite. Nothing else makes me look as fresh with just a dot or two blended into my cheeks. Its a deep mango colour in the bottle but once its blended onto the skin, it gives a gorgeous peachy glow to your complexion. Can’t leave the house without a swipe or two of this one!
FIVE - Rimmel Match Perfection 2 in 1 Concealer & Highlighter: For such a cheap product, this does a fantastic job, even better than a lot of luxury products I’ve tried. Its consistency isn’t too runny or too chalky, its just perfect. It hides black bags like a blanket and highlights the area well. I carry this around with me in my bag and top it up over the day. This is another product that I find myself relying on every morning now to rid me off those “I NEED more sleep” bags under my eyes!
Have you tried any of these products, or are you planning to?

My favourite eye shadow colours

Last week I placed my first order with the Avon Online Shop and was delighted when my new purchases were waiting for me last Friday. I've been really impressed with the quality of the Colordisiac lipsticks, glimmerstick brow definer and this gorgeous true colour eyeshadow duo in Deep Forest, above (which was reduced to €4.50!). But when I proudly displayed my bargains to Himself, he muttered a question about whether I really needed another eyeshadow. I always need another eyeshadow! In the name of the blog! I'm dedicated that way. So he clarified by wondering whether I really needed another eyeshadow IN THESE COLOURS.

Ah. A quick rummage in my handbag revealed that much as it pains me, he may, in fact, have had a point.

Here's a few swatches, for comparison:

These smokey greens, olives and khakis are without a doubt my favourite eye colours. What are yours?
