Treatment Tales: Rouge Beauty Salon in Ranelagh

I was recently invited to visit Rouge Beauty Salon in Ranelagh, to try out a treatment along with the wonderful-and-hilarious Rosemary MacCabe. I’d never been before but was impressed with the modern premises and the d├ęcor, especially the on-trend snake print wallpaper that’s used in a variety of different colours throughout the salon.

Over a cup of peppermint tea I perused the wide range of Jessica polishes on offer and decided on a New French manicure, with a creamy caramel base and hot pink tips. I was very ably looked after by Barbara, who would have been enragingly pretty in a willowy, blonde Slovakian way if she wasn’t also so very lovely.  And so very, very good at her job.

Barbara was wonderfully thorough: my nails were shaped and soaked before my cuticles were tackled, with every last ragged little piece of skin gently removed. This part felt really satisfying: I was fascinated with just how much dead skin came away on the tool and with how neat and polished my hands looked afterwards, and I was really delighted with the final result.

A manicure at Rouge costs just €25 or you could opt for a 3 week manicure at €40. Rouge also offers a full range of tanning, waxing and face/body treatments at very reasonable prices: next time, I’ll be checking out the back neck and shoulder massage for €35, or the 1-hour re-balancing facial for €65. It’s also worth keeping an eye on their website for details of special seasonal offers.

Thanks, I love it and it has inspired me to dig through my collection and see what other colour combos I can come up with on my own!

Thelma! It's been ages, thanks for stopping by, how's everything going with the move and all?

Sara, Zoe, thanks! I blame YSL for the surge in popularity of the coloured French, with their adorable contrasting polish sets...
