Sally Hansen Salon Effects Real Nail Polish Strips: Review and pictures!

You didn’t think I’d tell you all about the Irish Web Awards without telling you at least something about my makeup or my nails, now did you?!

For the occasion I broke out the Sally Hansen Salon Effects Real Nail Polish Strips, which I have been just dying to try.  These little babies are just what the name suggests: easy to apply strips of real nail polish decorated with stunning, salon effect designs.

They come in nine different varieties from metallics to fashion-inspired patterns and, from the ones I was sent, I spent considerable time humming and hawing between the two above: Wild Child and Kitty Kitty.

In the end I went for the zebra print and when I opened up the kit I found 16 nail polish strips, in two packs of 8; a mini cuticle stick and nail file/buffer along with clear, easy-to-follow instructions.

Bottom right: Catrice Welcome To The Jungle and Angelica Gold Digger (both available in Penneys)

When it comes to manual dexterity I’d say I’m at the back of the class, so I was a little bit worried these would prove to be too fiddly for someone with my extreme levels of awkwardness. But hurrah! I needn’t have worried, because these really were as effortless as the brand suggests: just peel, press, file and go!

In less time than it would take to paint my nails I was left with a really striking manicure – I opted to use just one of the packs of 8 polish strips, so gave myself a glitter accent nail to complete the look.

I was asked on several occasions where I’d got my nails done, and it was really gratifying to tell people I’d done them myself – with a little help from Sally Hansen, of course.  They’re tipped to last 10 days: I took mine off before work on Monday, but they're going right back on for my next night out or special occasion!

Sally Hansen Salon Effects are available now from selected pharmacy and grocery stores nationwide, and cost €8.95 for 16 polish strips.
