Fluffy little pick of the week: Chanel Illusion d’Ombre Long-Wear Luminous Eyeshadow in Mirifique, with review and swatches
This week’s pick is these gorgeous cushiony gel/mousse eyeshadows from Chanel. Firm and slightly moist to the touch, with a dense sponginess, Illusion d’Ombre long-wear luminous eyeshadows are unlike anything else in my collection. Packaged in their luxurious little glass pots, and with 6 unusual and interesting shades, they are really, truly, beautiful.
I was veering towards Epatante or Illusoire, which are shades I would probably get a lot more wear out of -- particularly for day. But I fell for Mirifique the hardest, with its seductive shiny, shimmery ways. A deep black with multicoloured sparkle, this shadow is so pretty that it’s almost hypnotic. I really think it’s love.
It’s so enticing, in fact, that I couldn’t wait until I’d photographed it for the site, but dove right in and applied it straight away for an intensely dark and sparkly full-on night-time look. There was some fallout at first, but once it set, it set, and stayed put after that. The brush was easy enough to work with, but I think I’ll use my fingers next time.
Compared to the others I swatched, Mirifique seems the most pigmented of the Illusion d'Ombre range. It’s incredibly versatile and can be worn in several ways -- as a liner, as a dramatic black shadow, as a sheered out sparkly gray or as a base for any smokey eye look.

Oh - I love Chanel make-up. I haven't bought any in ages though. This eyeshadow looks fab Emma.
Have a lovely weekend
xx
It's bloomin' gorgeous Joanne, I don't think this is your colour but there will definitely be one with your name on it! Hope you have a lovely weekend too x
Great to know, thanks Emma - I think I'll be investing in one of those bad boys! Have you tried the Armani Eyes to kill intense cream/powder shadows? Amazing!
That deep black color looks gorgeous!
Oooh, it does look gorgeous! I normally go for more natural shadow shades, but I'm really tempted to get this one, it really is pretty!
Thanks Ashlynn! And Nat, I'm the same, I don't usually go for such dramatic colours but wait till you see this one sparkling in the light - you'll be hooked!
Loooove it!!! Ughhh why does it have to be so expensive?? Oh yeah thats right, bc it's CHANEL!
GORGEOUS. Love that the little brush isn't just one of those sponge yokes too. x
also HAD to have this shade. It is so amazing. Love.
Thanks Kirstie! Which is your favourite now you've tried a few of them?
